it well pisses me of when there is those that claim such n such play produce tech or electro trance ....
get real would u please ...its bad enough when they claim marco v pioneerd tech trance .and other claim electro trance ....
its just been given that term to make it sell , sound cooler ,,,
its bad enough for the psy scen to be even conected with that term
.....rant over |

what is bad enough is the amount of time that ppl spend talking about the 1001 different categories of trance...each one defending something totally abstract and personal
for me it makes no sense at all...

I know only two categories of music: good and bad. If its trance, jazz, rock or pop, I dont care - if I like it, I like it. Thats it.
I agree that music genres were made only to sell better, nothing else. |

well whenever i play a track and people come up to me and say wow who was that and ive never heard trance like that what does it fall under then i try to catogarise it ... maybe wrong of me but i do ....
it gives people a direction to search if they are looking for similar music... IE... PPS Project ... they are catogarised as tech trance ...

yeah, categories make sense. sorry.
they're an easy way to convey a lot of information in a few words. the problem is, people often lack a common understanding of the categories. that's where it breaks down. but it shouldn't be hard to differentiate techno from drum and bass.

I agree with that lacking of the common understanding, but i wasn't refering to categories as in drum n base or techno, for me those are styles not categories...
i agree even psy can be divided into categories, and it can make sense, but now it just got a bit too much, every new thing must be a new category it just stopped making sense to me...lol, i just care if it sounds good and if i like it or not...!

electro-trance? thats a new one ehehe
I've seen electro elements being nicely fused with techno good examples:
Vitalic, Tomcraft, Sbles3plex, Section X... but so far i've never seen or heard a term called electro-trance
but then again all those terms dont matter as long the music is good! |
