I'm struggling big time getting some groove or whatsoever out of Audiorealism Bassline 2.

There's just something I just don't understand I guess, but whatever I try I just don't manage to get anything rolling.

Just any, any midi example would do show how to get something done.
When I'm sliding notes, what happens is that I don't hear the sound transposing, but the first note just eats the second note, and when I'm trying to slide 2 or 3 notes after each other, the sound dies out!

Any tips?

original 303 can't slide several notes after each other.. thats normal.

a typical 303 bassline is just a couple of 16ths maybe 2 per bar have an accent or a slide on it.

f.i.
C C C F C C C C C C F C C C C C
A__S______A_____S

Where this is 1 bar, A=Accent, S=Slide

A slide always has to be followed by a note with different pitch otherwise its just an 8ths.

Just use the internal Squenzer of the Audiorealism and program a bassline as above..
You can use your normal sequenzer and midi, but for the typical 303 sound you have to use an exact notelength which is outside the grid. its not a 16.th, but its also no multiple of 1/128, so most sequenzers can't draw the typical 303 notelength.. except if you use the midilist editor and enter the length manualy.. or record the line from an original with MidiOut extension... or as said use the internal sequenzer of the Audiorealism. easiest.

I use both Phoscyon now and ABL2; they've both got advantages and disadvantages. You can emulate a 303 slide using MIDI control in these plugins by overlapping notes 1/128th apart, in a glissando style... we used to do this back when we had a real 303 with CV and Gate inputs and it's very effective.

karmaFX is nice as well.
But it got some annoying bug as it doesn't stop playing when take your hands of the keyboard.

And how do I get that growling Oomp Oomp stab out of ABL2?
Is it like a sort of fast filter automation?

No worries, it's on psycox's link:

Lets say you have 16 1/16 th notes programmed. Each note occupies
six clock pulses - lets call them pulses 0 to 5.

The gate goes high at the start of clock pulse 0 - the positive edge.

The gate goes low half-way through clock pulse 3 - on its negative
edge.

That is for a normal, 1/16 note. So there are 3.5 clock pulses on
and 2.5 off

Length of 303 16th notes is 7/12 of a full 16th note.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

What i also often do to make my tbee lines a bit less "static" is apply a very little pit of phasing to make a constant modulation
In stereo makes it even more fat also           SQL: http://www.myspace.com/sqlmusic

increase decay and sustain values?           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"

ABL2 simulates an unmodified TB303, which has a fixed sustain of zero. I think Phoscyon has extra control in this area.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
