surrender,

I thought a blurb about EQing would be helpful. Do you really use taupro without any EQ?

I thought EQ was the holy grail of basslines!

*scratches head in amazement*

yhe you right.
usualy only with an xtrem eq you can get the bassound you like. with me the same but lately the best basssound i could make it dont need eq. and its the best i had so far. but its for what i pretend to do, im shure thers must be someone that dont like it within a good mix and good comp. makes very good work

hi bro wassap!!!

look i dont use often the taupro however in my opinion for a good fat bass with a fantastic sound you need to use a EQ and a Commpresor... but this only how i think.

good luck bro!!!

Interesting that everyone says to compress the bassline... Am I the only one who doesn't compress it (other than the sidechain of course)?

Compress live bass guitar - sure, squash it to fuck.

Compress synth bass - why, when you have envelopes? (think about it...)

There's always the exception though, and in the end it's about the sound, not the technique.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

*thinks about it*

so, a compressor basically takes the peak of a sound and squashes it to match the rest.

With an amplitude envelope we can control the attack 'punch' of a sound and so can 'tame' it to be closer to the sustain level.

(if I'm on the right track).

But what about a sound that peaks after it's attack portion of the envelope?

I can't actually think of an example offhand (maybe a pad), but are there general cases (ignoring FX) when one would not be able to use an envelope to 'tame' a sound?

peace,

hi!
if i may add my little 2 bit...

the tau pro is really one of the best ive come across...

try using a sawtooth and a sin wav...use the balance to your appeal...use a steep low pass filter and accentuate to taste...

as far as equing i concerned...that depends on the kick n bass combination ur trying to use...maybe a little positive equing with high q on a frequency to give it a resonating flavour? one thing...you could probably use a low cut at 20 htz to get rid of some sub bass...

coming to compression, you can use it, there are many ways of doing it...and you may not as well... use a search engine, find and learn about compressing synthetic basslines...theres lots there! experiment a bit! best way to know ur sound...if it works for you, thats it!

hope this helps....

yebo!

There is more actually... I spoke today to M-Klome who said that running the Muon Tau through a quadrafuzz and then putting something like a Waves L2, makes the bassline far more punchy and crisp... I recon i agree

eskimo & dynamic uses tau for bass and they dont put nothing on the channel!
no EQ no compressor.
it all depand on how you synthesis the machine!

by the way,all basses from infected musrooms latest album not modifed by Eq.
they dont use tau tho..

Actually OHM Vision bass line is made with Tau Pro but it haves 1eq because i made it too phatt in the Tau and a comp. to bring the bass freq. as much as the same level..
yhe.. i also liked the result...
But as Collin says.. its not about the technic is all about the sound
