Hi all

I need to know how to make good linear bass with tau pro vsti!
I want to make really fat bass, what config for?
1 oscilo or 2?
What's mode to choose on VC01 and VC02, and the transpose&detune level and other config ?
I search it since a long time and I'm very "lost".
Please help me! very thanx !!

Shamans, do you have monitors?

The fatness will come more with EQ than any particular setting, and will also depend on your kick.

any 'fat' bass by itself won't sound fat. It's the contrast between the bass and the kick that makes each sound the way they do.

I'm sure folks who use Tau pro can recommend the basic settings (I don't use it or else I'd recommend something), but the real magic on the bass will come from *careful* EQing on the bass and kick.

And for that you will need decent monitors and lots of practice.

Happy tweaking,

no need to use eq at all on taupro in my opinion, use only 1 oscillator (recommendation for basslines in general) and start from there.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

I have one track with Tao Pro. And indeed no eq.

But as fuzzikitten said, the kick is very important also.

surrender,

I thought a blurb about EQing would be helpful. Do you really use taupro without any EQ?

I thought EQ was the holy grail of basslines!

*scratches head in amazement*

funny, I just gave tau pro a (first) go about a week ago and am very satisfied with it...and now this thread

Anyway, it seems there needs to be less cutting using the tau pro compared to vb-1. Seems easier to make a decent bass sound, seems...not sure yet.

funny, i´m not very keen on tau series cause i love baselines with 2 osc, V_Station makes awesome baselines, all kinds, one note two notes and 3 notes baselines just perfectly.
i also use an old vst for baselines "Junglist", it makes really low deep baselines also
