i pretty much liked everything you made until that break at 3:40.
groovy oldschoolish proper psytrance. nice working chunky kick and bass that you like to move along with + psychedelic atmospheres. percussion also ok, not as bad as you mention it to be.
however, after the break you loose me, feels like two different tracks and tom my eyes the second part is random and just "more stuff at once and faster base".
a logical progression of you smooth groove and atmosphere of the first parts would have been nice. but thats maybe just my taste there ;-)

very good, gave me an old Pink Floyd song felling (dont remember the name of the track)
I'm at work and on crappy speakers, but it felt a good listen, didn't felt what klippel said, it flowed nice, but i'll listen again at home for sure
Nice to see u guys evolving, congrats

@kilppel - thanks for the feedback, I appreciate the honesty. Do you think that you would have the same feeling about the track past the break+triplet section if the break+triplet section was removed?
I kind of have mixed feelings about it..I feel like the track needs some sort of change-up halfway through, or a mini breathing point - I tried at one point just cutting out the triplet section entirely but I kinda like it.
As far as its progression and whatnot, I like the second half as it contains the main lead riffs - but again feedback (even based on nothing but taste!) is important and thanks again
@nomad moon cheers! Glad you enjoyed it and that it flowed nice for you. I wonder what it was about it that triggered pink floyd memories?
Sofar I've had peope say that it sounds like old logic bomb/hux flux, and now pink floyd o.O

The mix is clear. I think you percussion works well.
It got a very psychedelic touch. I like the way you progress things, very subtle and smooth.
The last arp could be a little bit higher in the part before the end (or thats atleast how i feel).
Interesting stuff you make, i like it!.

Thanks! That kind of feedback makes me all warm and fuzzy because that's exactly what I'm going for! Clear mix, psychedelic and trancey/smooth
I feel you on the last part too....the final phrase after the 'found something' sample needs to build up a bit more or hit harder....
In the end though the stuff I added to try to deal with it just muddied up the mix...
Still a lot of learning to be done! Building up energy is tricky

hey mate,
i listened to it again, some more thoughts on the second part from me:
maybe make the delay on the 303 ish sound a bit less prominent to clear the mix somewhat in the triplet part so it makes a cleaner transition from the very clean first part.
i do like the synth work of the second part, just the overwhelming and static 16th baseline makes it in fact less psychedelic and pleasant for me. the bouncy feeling is missing that gives room for the psychedelicness of the synth work. maybe its worth try to add some more variation/groove to the second baseline.
again my unworthy 0.02$
anyway, its a nice nice track for sure already and good to see music like this coming up! it does have an oldchoolish scando vibe to it for sure, which is sweeeeet so please keep going

Cheers for the explanation of the bassline and whatnot
My feeling is that I too hate a static bassline, I like it to change but if it changes too much then it loses the trance feel. I find myself starting off with more sparse basslines in the beginning and then ramping up to more full-on style bass patterns near the end...but my girlfriend made the same criticism of the bassline after the triplet section...though when I went back and tried to funk it up a bit I didn't end up with anything that satisfied me.
Maybe I'll let this one sit for a while then come back and change it up a bit in that area.
Your .02$ is quite worthy! And you don't have to worry about me keeping going! My goal is to have a really polished professionally mastered EP by the end of 2012
Oh! About the Pink Floydness...I love on the run. I'm particularly fond of when Posford covers it - makes me all tingly. I didn't realize that the pattern is probably posted...and yup its right on the wiki! Having some good fun running the MIDI pattern through omnisphere!

letting it sit is a good idea, a fresh perspective is helpful.
one thing you could (and i would ) do is listen to logic bomb stuff, maybe the unlimited album and try to really learn their bass and assorted synth patterns. how they build their sound and make the perceived groove and speed by clever arrangement of rhytmic and frequency partitioning. e.g. when they make faster baselines the low freqs are not dominant but the sound is soft an wobbly which leaves room for the kicks subs and the rest of the arps and fx. they do however make fast sounding baselines with deeper bass by clever arrangement of groove without using standard kbbb patterns and yield room via spot on placed gaps.

its the kick and bass and oldschool atmo that makes this thing what it is.
i do not understand why you would say something like that orange.
"it would not fit into any dj set"
depends on the style of the music one plays innit mate?
it would fit ANY of my sets and all of my fellow dj friends who love to spice modern prog/zenon/psy up with some older stuff as well. and you know what? them people love it!
so much hyperpolished lifeless standardised junkmusic these days around around.. I am really happy for some eartshaking funky stuff like this.
but anyway, its a taste thing, but what is not about taste is the following:
make the music you like and not the music you think fits a set or time or whatnot, so follow your heart will and you will be right. do not listen to us ;-)
