Lets say it this way: you install a cracked version SX3 with the "emulated" synchrosoft dongle on one computer. And on the other computer you install a legal version of SX3 and with the actual synchrosoft dongle.
Which one of these do you think has the biggest probability to fail?
Or are you suggesting its equal probability?

i have both and both did not crash because of instability of sx3. so for me its hard to answer this one. i just think its not a real issue.
not denying the risk of virusses / worms etc when putting software from just any torrent on your operating system. when used with some common sense using cracks is a moral issue but not a technical itch.

I have friends that are running all kinds of different cracked sequencers from different hack groups and to be honest i´ve seen some really weird "bugs" appear and those bugs are not reported on the regular user forums from actual customers.
So apparently it is a technical issue to a pretty big extend.

I actualy wouldn`t go far a motu..its D/A conversion is not the best and the drivers could be better as well..ok you won`t find a better interface with that amount of channels for that price..but do you really need them? i would suggest a RME Fireface 400 or if you are on a mac then Metric Halo ULN 2..or even Echo Audiofire 4/presonus firebox for a more compact one...or apogee duet or anything instead of tascam, motu and m-audio.. in my opinion..and i sell and work with that stuff every day and got contact to many people who try/buy stuff and come back to repair to change or just to say thx cause they are satisfied..
good luck!

UPDATE: Driver update worked wonders for me, thanks guys!! Performance still could be better but I am working on it, at least soundcard does not glitch with winamp!
Still looking at getting a new soundcard though.... I want one which will allow me to have as much VSTs running as possible without glitching... I know firewire is a more stable architechture than usb2 so I will be aiming for a FW card. Thanks for advise, will research more on all the cards mentioned! |

Perhaps you should try to invest in a pcmcia based IEEE1394 card with the TI chip, perhaps that could help.
Still your soundcard has nothing to do with "running as many vsts as possible"

Hehe ok ok well I have a pretty good processor + RAM so I take it the weak link in controlling the VSTs and outputting the result must now be in data transfer speed + stability between sound card and pc?
My lappy does not have a pcmcia slot, only express slot that will accept an express card with a TI chip that will take my UltraLite. What good pcmcia based IEEE1394 cards with the TI chip are there out there? |
