when you listen to popular released albums on any system via earplugs, hi-fi, home theather, car sound, anything. all the sounds is pretty much audible.
i have a bass part that sounds awesome with subwoofer but you can not hear it on laptop speakers at all. I'm sure it will sound perfect on a big rig sound system.
it is not overpowering on the spectrum analyzer, but on the subwoofer you feel it is there
will this effect my target market? i mean,, I was hoping to target all systems.
is there music intended being released for big sub sound only?

well while making your sound it DOES matter where its going to be playing.
no one promise the party (big) rig dude know how to tune the system anywayz he will probably cut you from 40hz or something.
i always have those subby freqs and when tuned to my taste at the party i sound fatter then most others that plays hi-passed music but when the sound guy applu cut on 40hz i might just miss some rms on the mid freqs.. good sound is always compramise somewhere

laptop speaker dont produce really low frequencies,
try to boost your mid-bass.
if the bass note is for example 50hz-55hz. than try to boost around 100-110hz & 200-220hz.

It's normal no, laptop speakers don't have low, so you can't hear it.
Whats so difficult aboutthat?
I would not put a maxxbass on it, it's released mastered music, leave it like it is... (

it is not released mastered anything.
its a small bass part on a tune i'm working on.
The bass is not audible on laptop speakers and even hard to hear on hi-fi without subwoofer.
my concern is that it will not translate well on all sound systems,, or that master engineer will not keep the bass intact like it is..
i guess i want to know if you get released mastered music out there that is only intended for big sound systems..
or maybe you can have 2 mastered versions, 1 that is playable on all systems.
all the cd music i have is listenable on any speakers.
anyway here is a small snip sample of bass.
already HP on bout 35hz.
there is little scratches in there because CPU is working on other processes this moment.

I have a sub system and right now i dont have a amp to drive my other "polk audio" hifi speakers so
i can only look at this from one perspective, oh maybe two or three.
I only listen in the laptop speakers to find out excessive resonance, if so i know there is something wrong...
the truth is that if you have a pair of good monitors they will translate very well to a sub system...
For example my brother has the tannoy reveal active(old ones) and they translate very well to my blue sky mediadesk...
I never played on a big rig so i cant tell! but like Elad say, your target medium is very important, and its a compromise... i learn something new after every track, for example i have track, psychained and i notice that i have to change the kick cause its sounding very bad...
so aim to make as clean sounds as possible... and it will sound good almost everywhere...

the sample you posted is just a slightly over driven 50hz sine wave....so there is no way you will hear it in your laptop speakers or any small hifi speakers...you will only hear the overtones that the distortion made...or you will hear your hifi speakers distorting.
if you want your bass not to lose its tone in small systems you should produce a fuller sound. (more info in the 100-300 area and 800-2500hz).

i do not want to put more bass character on this particular part @ 100-300. i want to keep it clean under the vocals thats happening.
so do you think it is feasible to release a song with bass like this??? and just let listeners know that it is not intended for weak systems..
i imagine it will translate nicely with good car sound

I cant listen at the minute as the "old woman" is sleeping, however its all about using the right sound, mixing it properly and having a nice final mastering stage.
If the above stages are followed correctly you should be able to hear the whole track on any system (albeit the bass wont boom/move your chest etc) to a certain extent, even a laptop.

in the end i decided to rewrite the whole song from a higher key note. the bass now sits on about 61hz. still not audible on laptop but good enough for my hi-fi. i also added i tiny bit of character with saw wave,, so it is not to bad on the ipod earphones.
the thing is,, i decided it is not very useful to make music that will only be listenable on systems with subwoofers. one has to cater for the ipods and mini hi-fi's and desktop speakers if you want to succeed in a popular release.

This is why mentioned Maxx-Bass as we learned this at collage for professional mastering, to make stuff sound like the bass is present, when its only an illusion of it.
Would like to find a free alternative to it?
Added a request in the FL to-do section to make the bass enhancer plug-in not just an E.Q, yet a harmonics bass enhancer.

Well you can release whatever You want. Then people can choose to listen to it on their laptob or not. It doesn't really matter much. The important part is that the track is good.
However, Obviously you might not impress as many people from the get go if 75% of them have a bad experience with their first listen due to it being on a labtop or kitchen radio.
But again, the rest might have an orgasmic sub experience on their crazy Giant stereo.
Just trust that it's cool for others if You find it great yourself.
