So I was listening to some Talmasca and what seems just like the VB-1 haha. Back to VB-1 yet again.

I remember some people saying a way to get those old psy basslines was to put VB-1 samples through Cronox 2.

My question is: What notes should I sample? If I have a song in a minor, should I just take a low 'A' note sample? or what?           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

Hello!
you should sample the notes you need, and the root does not determine if its major or minor..
so if you sample a A you can make a track in either major or minor...

its the third that determine that, minor being the smaller interval and major being the bigger...

Good luck

@koozer wow, that is impressive

You really did a good job. main difference is that the original has the kick and bassline more upfront. Especially the kick is much louder. The melodie is more in the background and the guitar is more present. so it's a lot in the mere levels. Slayer VST plugin should give you that guitar too.
Also important for the presence of the talamasca: massive 909 offbeat hiHat, yours is too subtle. Also your clap would need to be a bit lower.

You should put the project file online, I'm sure it would help a lot of people. I also have such "clones" on my websites tutorial section. As from my experience this is what most people find the most helpful.

Vb1 is so dam lame I don't know why everyone fuss over it... I don't understand why.. It doesn't have much in the way of a filter envelope or mod matrix

with vb1 i dont think you need to sample it cause the sound of the envelop is fucking fast and snappy,i would love to be able to load sample into vb1 cause it s more the oscillator (or sample they used) i don t like much

I just loaded VB1 into cronox. It sounds pretty tight PoM you should try it. The Cronox filters are quick. The filters in Cronox enhance the vb1 sound nicely.

I started using a lot of different vsts for fullon, but for those songs where I don't need a huge bass, that Talmasca type of sound works well.

The way I just did it, and it should be the same with Cronox3.

1. I played a bunch of VB-1 quarter notes from c1 to c3, just the white keys.

2. Bounced each note out separately

3. Then since I'm making a song in the key of c, loaded the c2 sample into cronox.

4. Then just mess around with the envelopes and filter settings.

People on here say Cronox3 doesn't have as clean envelopes but I've never tried it. I bet it will sound good anyway.

yeah. it's just like a sampler but you only need one sample. It pitch shifts very well and keeps the note durations all the same.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page
