Just in case you are not aware - The knobs are there to reward you for doing what she says; the big peaks (you want to limit), along with forced abstinence, are there to punish you for not behaving like she wants.
In order to avoid being controlled, you must minimize the perceived influence of reward and punishment and instead begin rewarding and punishing in reverse to direct her behaviour according to your needs and specifications.
Just a suggestion, as it seems like you are powerless to limit the peaks.
