Talk Talk and me kinda evolved together musically, in the 80s, I can say. Their first album- The Party's Over (1982)- was 80 British pop, nothing spectacular, but with few catchy good songs. It's My Life (1984), dives into more melancholic realms, and starts to experiment a little more with eletcronic sounds. The Colour of Spring (1986), was their best selling album, and probably the best one pop-wise, with the excellent hit- Life's What You Make It, as pr0fane said, it's just an excellent and interesting pop album (yes, there use to be such a creature). Spirit of Eden (1988), is my favorite album- it has long musical creations- side A (it's all vinyl here) is a long 23 min. composition, that goes deep into ambient realms. Recommended. They have another album, but when it came out, I was deep into other kinds of music, and totally missed it. I heard that both Mark Hollis & Tim Friese-Green, the musical brains behind Talk Talk, have solo projects as well.
All their album covers are amazing as well.

yup. this song and video really entranced me when i was a kid. eerie but still somehow reassuring atmosphere with the animals running around in the woods at night and the music (especially the organ and mellotron) creating a magical atmosphere. the track has been kinda haunting me ever since and i had to buy the album some years ago. it's one of the VERY few 80's pop albums i've bought as an adult. now as i've been listening to it again (especially listening to the lyrics what i didn't do as a kid) and looking at the video i find it to be a very symbolical package too. from the darkness and long, quirky shadows of the night into a new dawn.
life's what you make it...
here are the lyrics (a very good reminder every now and then ) :
Baby,
life's what you make it
Can't escape it
Baby,
yesterday's favourite
Don't you hate it
(Everything's All RIght)
life's what you make it
(Everything's All RIght)
Baby,
life's what you make it
Don't backdate it
Baby,
Don't try to shade it
Beauty is naked
(Everything's all right)
life's what you make it
(Everything's all right)
Life's What You Make It
(Instrumental)
Baby,
life's what you make it
Celebrate it
Anticipate it
Yesterday's faded
Nothing can change it
Life's what you make it
(Everything's all right)
life's what you make it
(Everything's all right)
Life's What You Make It
(Everything's all right)
yeah yeah
(Everything's all right)

The contrast to today's pop lyrics kinda stands out, doesn't it?
