Warm hello to everybody!
We are making parties here, in Poland. I'm painting decos and we probably going to start producing music.
Looking for inspiration I started to dig into Slavic pre-Christian believes, legends and mythology. There are plenty of Hindu and Buddhist symbols already so I thought about something fresh and new.
What do you think? Can you write something about parties that had similar approach? |

generally this is a very good intention. unfortunately not always that easy. i know about a rather big festival in the forest of russia which used old slavic pre christian symbols on the flyer and faced therefore huge problems with promoting it in the western part of europe. it was banned from the bigger international databases of western europe because it used the same slavic symbols, which hitler stole during the world war and made them to symbols of nazi intentions. so they are forbidden in some places now, although they are even older than those relatively very young european countries ( the most interesting history of europe took place in the pre christian time in my opinion).
so be careful with those slavic symbols. although , i personally think, that it is up to the slavic tribes to deside if they use the symbols or not. but it is good to take this into consideration if you dont want your festival to be a financial flop.
generally it has bacame truely boring to always use hindu symbols anywhere. back to the roots means back to the own roots. but to prevent another " this is not trance discussion", i stop on that place. i think it will be very very helpful to do more about our own roots....
and if you use buddhism, then never forget that in the last years more people died in the conflict betweeen china and tibet, than in the world wars together. it is simply very unwise and a huge digrace to use those symbols as fashion/ or flyer elements and forget that fact. use your own roots for inspiration instead. i am sure the ancestors would rather be very pleased to see this if they lived. and you never know if they still exist in one form or another.

That's true. There are neo-pagan groups that try to bring those believes back. At first, I was repulsed by imagery that looked like nationalism under cover but after looking closer I saw lots of anti-fascist statements.
