My AMD 900 reaches 95-100 load when I'm running Cubase with some plugs on it..
Is there a way to decrease the load without turning off plugins / buying a new cpu?

but that's all crap.
mac's ARE expensive

well, that thread is more of a "what should i buy issue".
Mike,
when your running your pc, make sure you shut down any unnecassery programs that are running. that includes ICQ, Internet Explorer, microsoft outlook, outlook express, Kazaa, soulseek, anything which isnt related to running cubase - shut it down.
use Ctrl+Alt+Del to shutdown programs that are running in the background and you can't see them - winamp agent, which is allways running when you boot your comp, and anything you don't recognize.
i think you should also consider buying an extra RAM card, boost your memory some, works miracles.

Jason, only Cubase is running on that computer. Everything I don't need isn't even installed in there.
RAM is not the problem, 256MB seems ok to me. Almost no usage of HD cache.
It's the CPU!!

Hi, I get same problem. The best solution is obviously to get more powerul pc..
The magazine Computer Music had a good article in issue38( Oct01) called 303 tips. In that article there are quite a few tips on Pc setup which could help you relieve your cpu somewhat... have a look at their website

Mike, i have no idea what your computer specifications are, yet you seem to take for granted that i do. i don't. which is why i suggested the aforementioned method.
if it's a CPU hog plugin, try using an alternate plugin, on which won't choke up your CPU.

+ Make sure you don't run any antivirus, firewalls or disk managers - you can also reduce video card performance when recording
(you don't really need 1600x1200 32bits to make music - even to enjoy Reason cable animations )
