How do you process hi-freq area in your tracks? Do you low-pass or high-shelve a lot?

I didn't care too much about high-freq area before, but now started =). I mean, I leave much less sounds untouched in hi-end, the difference is not so evident, in comparison to hi-passing, but this helps to keep the hi-end clean and also makes the mix sound softer and smoother. Sometimes =)

So, on which sounds do you usually use low-pass and hi-shelve EQ? And how many and which sounds of our mix do you usually leave untouched in the hi-end?           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

I do it on snare and some hihats.. Some short hihats I leave untouched.. O low-high pass as much as necessary but not too much so I dont cut important lower and higher harmonics..           http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

I sometimes low pass bass and guitars, especially for spill. On sounds like hats I prefer hi shelf lifts.

But at the end of the day if it sounds right it is right.

Get stuck in and experiment. If you have a track to mix try doing different versions with different approaches and see what you prefer.

I LP nearly everything... but often very very high up. Even if I shelf, I often still like to LP.

I like to leave some parts that go all the way up untouched (it depends, but often hats and crashes, assuming they sound smooth enough).

I nearly everytime will add a LP on my kicks and basses. I hear a lot of basses even in professional releases, that for my tastes need more work in the upper freqs and sound quite rough.

I like to use headphones to identify potential problem areas in the uppers, as I often find that issues are masked by my very inferior monitoring system in the uppers - but I actually adjust using a combination of headphones and speakers, so as to find the best happy medium - and a lot of Psy gets listened to on headphones out there, so if it is possible to have it sound good on headphones and speakers, I'll always try and aim for that.

I filter and eq constantly, then turn them all off except for a few when the track is done.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?
