HEllo.. listen, i have a new comp, pentium IV 1500MHZ 256MB ram, riva tnt2 (non releavant), But WIN98. i can't even run a decent program once withought losing all my system resources! it slows down to 10 % - 20 % and then i have a bluescreen. is it possible that OS win98 is not powerfull enough to handle pentium 4? 10x |

first of all win98 is not optimized for using those speedes of pentium4 , there is a way to configure manualy the memory-cpu usage !
1. Right click on "my computer" & then properties 2. press on 'Performance' &then 'Virtual Memory' 3. press on 'Let me specify ...' Choose the partitian that got at least 700MB free space (like : D: ) 4. Set to minimum '0' & Maximum '640' 5. Press "ok" to get out&Save. 6. Restart
I hope it will help you and maybe speed up your computer...Goodluck |

Umm... Make sure nothing is running. No antiviruses, no task schedulers... nothing. Then start system monitor (start->sysmon) and add "unused physical memory" from "memory manager". Now start some programs, such as cubase and put your computer into the heaviest situation it will be. If you run out of physical memory, go to the place Leo told you and put BOTH minimum and maximum at around 256. If you still have enought physical memory available even after loading your computer, you can disable virtual memory. |

You can also optimize you speed with going to System>Performace>File System>Hard Disk and selecting NetWork Server...
btw - Virtual Memory best put the same value for minimum and maximum - this way you will have a constant large file - I don't like Pentium! :)
