motherboard - abit SA7
sound card - Soundblaster live (will be replace soon...)

Did you 'tweak' your XP to full audio work?

I see u are using PC AV(EASI) - try using the ASIO driver instead - I think soundblaster live got those kx drivers for it.

I don't know about XP tweaks - I'm sure u can find on the internet or get some help from guys here.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

It´s no problem, cause if you open a vst and a stereo effect the channel will be stereo.

your situation for me is more less normal!!!
In my studio this shit happen every day, and i work with a pentium 4 ,512ram ,and the soundcard is RME multiface!

I think that the problem is treatment of computer.

i just had the same problem. look at previous posts...
basically you need to bounce your tracks to audio.
and then bypass all the vsti's and effects you are not using(when you bypass it doesn't use any cpu power). Also use send effects. Set up buses in logic: for example long delay on bus 1, medium delay on bus 2, short delay on bus 3. That will save u a lot of cpu. Changing to ASIO does not make all the channels monno. I work with ASIO and have only stereo channels.
The last thing you can do that helps with those ASIO messages is press on Ctrl +ALt +DEL.
then click on logic and change the setting to high.
Don't select real-time cause it doesn't work well.
After that no more ASIO overload messages...

Ben could you explain a bit more what you mean by pressing control alt delete when u get that message 'the system overload cannot bla bla'? As far as I know con alt del is for the task manager. Which menu should u get to change those settings to high?

Mad hatter why dont u work on different 'songs' for different things eg/ song one for kick and bass, song two you bounce kick and bass and u work on perc or whatever..etc..
Like that if u want to change something u have bounced later on u can always go back to it.

sorry forgot to mention that only applies if you have a shit pc like mine.. which gives the above message far too quickly
for me its not really boring its a necessity..

steve: yeah i meant the task manager.
so open the task manager by pressing ctrl + alt +del, then select high. Do it when you just opened your song and remember it will not solve your cpu issues it will just get rid of the asio overload messages. So you have to watch your cpu usage when you do this too...

mad hatter: i have a pentium 3 866 mghz and i can make tracks in logic so you shoulnd't have any problems.
i think your computer is fine.
Just change the way you are working:
Use vsti's for kick & bass and bounce all the other vsti tracks to audio(click on bounce on the master channel, then bounce and add).
For example work on a sound. when you get a good sound or melody, make a loop, bounce it.an other tip: when you bounce a file that has delay on it, turn the delay off on the vsti and put the same delay on the audio track. hope that makes sense... good luck guys

i dont understand how could you put 6 effects on one channel!
My opinion is that too much effects makes your sound less clear and very confusing.
unless your way to create sound is with the effects and than like everybody told before, you gotta export it to wav.

Actually when I think about this - u are right billy - I mean - I don't want there to be a limitation on putting effects - but really what in the world are u putting on every channel that makes it vital ?           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...
