it is trance, but is system 7 a psytrance project? I've never heard of them and im know seeing them in a lot of flyers for parties. are they that good? (very interested )           "Great things are only possible with outrageous requests." Thea Alexander

System 7 are a popular live act in the UK, including regular performances at Glastonbury and other big festivals, and in Japan, where they are closely associated with Tsyoshi Suzuki's Tokiodrome party crew and Wakyo.

They have a killer live album recorded at a Tokiodrome party at Tokyo Liquid Room in 2002.

In answer to your question "is system 7 a psy trance project?" here's a quote by System 7 themselves from an interview in Japanese psy trance magazine Posivision this year:-

"With Alex Paterson (The Orb)and particularly with Youth we were involved in the very start of the psy-trance movement and everyone treated us with a lot of respect because of our psychedelic roots in the 70s. Because of the fact we still employ some of the sounds we developed in the 70s (but in a techno context) we have evolved our own System 7 sound which is particular to us. But it is still a psychedelic sound and although we are not a typical psy-trance band our sound is appreciated by psy-trance crowds. We offer something a bit different and it still takes people on a journey in the way that psy-trance aims to do. This is the same in the UK as in Japan although we also play at mainstream techno events. In Europe we mainly play progressive house events although our music is faster than typical progressive house. In truth we are between the genres of techno, progressive house and psy-trance with our own position in the dance spectrum."

System7 play trance and techno that is psychedelic without playing within the very narrow genre of what is considered psy trance!

Steve Hillage & Miquette Giraudy have been making music for about 35 years - and can still blow people away - so I'd throughly recommend going to see them (unless you *really need* your music to have the same rolling bassnote and a few cliched sci-fi samples!!)

I met Steve Hillage at the Glade & what a nice bloke he was.
