I'm new in this game.. so help me out..
How do I understand how synths are built up? I've installed albino and native instrument... but I dont have a clue how all the knobs and sliders work... are there any tutorials somewhere that explains how it all works? In a simple way.. and maybe a good vst synth to start out with? a plain and simple one with the most basic stuff.. |

Try the pro-53. that's a nice one to start with... not alot of parameters and still fat sound. Anyway: I have a feeling some people will refer to the magic 'search' button in this thread. |

Well, you can find guides on how synths work all around the internet and a lot of them are simple enough for a begginer.
If we're talking about analogue synthesis i got big help from novation's bassstation, which is a plain 2 oscilator analogue module, ideal for someone to get to know to the basics of analogue
synthesis. You can get the vst instrument which
is pretty much the same as the hardware version and take a good look at the pdf manual which you can find here :
http://www.novationmusic.com/downloads/manuals/english/bsrmanual.pdf
Especially from page 11 and on,the analogue voice architecture is explained in simple words without any mumbo jumbo unecessary details.
What is envelope, oscilator, lfo, filter? How do they work?Everything is explained here in a very comprehensive way.
There are also some step by step examples on how to create various sounds.
If you have some program like fruity loops you can use the synths that come with it (ts404,3x osc) which work in the same way.
Good luck!
