Hello music friends,

is it possible to synthesize classical instruments?
For example : trombone,trumpet,harp,tam-tam,clarinett,flute,contrabass,glockenspiel,gongs, cello or a violin.
And not just a tone of a small range ,how to create a preset that you can play a scale as authentic as possible?
Which synthesizers are good for such synthesis?
Is it impossible nowadays?

I know there are some soundbanks recorded by symphonic orchestras for big wallets, but I can forget it for now.
Is here someone that created a symphonic track only with a help of pc?
Notation in cubase is a great tool, but you have to have also the instruments, how to create some of them? Cello and violin would be great to begin.
Or is there something for free ?
If you have something to say regarding this questions please answer I would be glad.
Peace

hey bro,

of course you can synthesize your instruments but they really wont match quality sample based ones!!

i personally use the kontakt sampler, which has a pretty good orchestral selection, and sounds great!

otherwise perhaps you could check out something like sibelius, thats the best one for composing classical stuff!

the problem i find with classical stuff is that it is really hard to get a good dynamic sound, like smooth velocity changes and slight timing changes that a good player can include.

one avenue you could try to get them for free (if you dont want to use pirated software)would be to find a free sampler (i think native instruments have a free lower model kontakt one) and then just search for sample banks in google.

hope it helps

yes I thaought about this dynamic problem and the whole synthesis of real instruments seems really hardcore maybe even really impossible with options that exist so far,but I dream mostly of symphonia when about music,no chance that this will getting boring for me.
Any start to play an orchestra would be a fantastic playground for really many smiles and passionate houres.
This is for me the highest art,so it is interesting.
And this is timeless music often.
I never had a deeper look on sibelius..
Have you heard about edirol? I once have had a synth with quite much of possibilites from edirol refering to classical ,you could even tune all instruments individualy with cents etc,but I could not automate there ,or could nothing really change. That was long ago.
Thank you for your nice statement bro'.
Peace

Sytrus in FL-Studio has some nice presets that could all be used as a Vsti and there are lots of free orchestral samples for DirectWave.           www.wizanda.com www.soundcloud.com/wizanda

Synthesis is a waste of time for this compared to extensive multisampling.
Garritan Personal Orchestra is considered the best bang for the buck as far as orchestral instruments go.

Vienna Symphonic Library is largly considered the best of the best, but is expensive and actually has a learning curve to get decent sounds..

Another aspect to getting realistic sounds though is actually some understanding of how the instrument can be played physically.

thanks.

btw my first school was a communistic classical music school in Poland - the only one of this kind in this land back than.
..almost 3 decades ago.
But I do not want to smartass here around - I'm a bloody beginner lets say and then it was not my question.. but thanks for your answer.

@ Wizanda - thank you for your intention.

and if you do decide to go with actually synthesizing real instruments, then this reading is essential:

This one is supposed to be really good, and very playable:

I'm going to try it, see how it is.
Used to have a whole series of the old Vitous collection, but wasn't very convincing.

out of curiosity: why to synthetize it when you can sample it?           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

Good question Ohshhhhiiiiit! and cool name man
I am sure it is not possible - but I'm happy to learn more from the profis.
But the actual answer is - my pockets are not fat or filled with lots of gold ans silvah hehe
No cash friend.. that is tha reazon.
Synthesizing should be impossible since a cello is not a didgeridoo for instance.. even though didge is so deeep .
OR let the cat out of tha dark closed bag and tell me where ?? to find these symphatetic instrumentos.

IMHO with synths you can recreate just some instruments (contrabass, strings, flutes...) with results that are more or less far from the real ones but are anyway useful (especially after some fxs).

BTW did you try to sample dirctly from audio cds? very funny mate, very very funny (and with ableton live even more)           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

and yeah synth got a lil potential for it for sure.Soundtracks is a passion for me.But that is only recreating somethin what already happend almost all.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

You can find different synths that imitate symphonic instruments but in reality they normally sound awful as opposed to good sample based ones. The cheaper method would be to find a sample cd and program the sounds into your vst sampler youself. -Unless of course You are a pirat.           www.iono-music.com

I think classical instruments are really anachronistic.
The future of music is sadly not there. The reason classical instruments were used, was coz they had nothing better in those times. Thats not the case anymore. Have a listen to autechre, or Apparat for some more groundbreaking music.
