hi, so i have a pretty dumb question
really sorry , but i'm a real noob in technological things.
so my question is, i have a mini korg synth, and i want to use it as midi controller or just connect it via midi to my pc.
so i have a soundcard which supports midi (i think ).
so i was wondering, where can i get a cable to connect my midi device to my pc, because my soundcard doesnt have a "round" midi cable entrance, more like a scart.
is this possible with just a cable, or do i need something else, like a midi adaptor?
and if so , whats the cheapest solution.

i would really appreciate any help.
thx.

There are a couple of solutions to this issue. First thing to do is to check and see if you can connect the synth via usb to your computer. If you cannot do that, you should look into getting a midi to usb box like any of these...

If you google midi to usb that should sort you too, but make sure the keyboard itself doesn't have a usb connector first before you spend any money.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

you can use your current soundcard, but you need to buy a "midi/Game port" adapter.

Most soundcards include MIDI, but since most people don't use MIDI and because the MIDI plugs are so big, they combined the MIDI port with the joystick plug.

So you need to get an adapter plug that has the game port style plug on one end and the two MIDI cables on the other.

They're usually around $20, probably cheaper than a MIDI in box.

The problem with both methods is you'll encounter latency when controlling VSTs, and you'll probably want to upgrade to a professional soundcard anyway.
