Ive noticed that every harmonic melody in a trance track is based on incomplete chord progressions. i.e. what I do to creat melodies is set up a number of chords which dont conflict with root bass, & then use the pitches in those consonant chords into the track, or just work around those chords. sorta.
Its nice 2 find some linking voice leading between these subchords. works very well with the harmony of the root bass.
have a number of these progression throughout the track to change melodies in interesting ways.
I myself am only studying music theory at an intermediate level & dont yet know how 2 build emotion in2 tracks, but at least the harmonies work.
