Yep, that's a very good book to get started. it covers all the basic apects of making electronic music.

It also found it helpful to scroll though presets and try to understand how the good patches are made. Pay special attention to the type of waveform that is used, how many waveforms are used, whether FM is turned on, which kind of filter is used, the envelope (ADSR) settings, and which kinds of modulation are going on. After a few meters of presets you'll get the picture
