a synth and software collaboration issue is very important i think.
i ve just got a KS 4 but i have to buy also a better sound card.i am working with FL studio and ableton live 5.
Any suggestions / tips about recording sound from synth to my computer without so much latency?(<20ms)
It is better 2 still use plug ins or the banks of ks are enough?what do u thnk abou it?

when recording from external sources u will allways have latency <> 20ms.
Audio editing software is needed for this job.
The best way is to use whatever it sounds good to ur ears, samples, vsts or even recording whatever you like.
Nothing is enough about sounds..

Check you Buffer Size...the biggest it is the more latency you will have...but also too small size will give you clicks and pops...but experiment with that to find a good setup for your system...also you might have some sort of midi "delay compensation" in your programs...I work in cubase so I can´t really point where it is in FL or ableton but im prety sure its there somewhere
For example if I have my buffer set to 512 I get the external synths almost on time (not exact but ok for hearing)...but if work with higher than 1024 buffer size I need to get my delay compensation at about -30 to get it on time... |
