A Deubler Modular system. U can start with some basic modules with 1500$ but ull need more money for building a bigger system.            Signature

what i can say about novation ks-4 is that :

*i like its keyboard, its smooth with velocity and channel aftertouch.
*i like its knobs they are smooth and accurate
*i like the filter overdrive
*i like its performace mode and how you set up one
*i like the fatness is has, the unison, the 3 oscilators with many waveforms

*i dont like the fact that sync is hardwired to 1>2 and FM is hardwired to 2>3. and also the fact that in order to access these I have to go through menus.
*i got really used of its effects, i now make patches without reverbs/delays cause you can get 10x better stuff in software
*there is a small bug if you are messing around in the oscilator menu sometimes the menu pages will start flipping from one to another, but maybe that's just me
*only 1 filter (12db/23db) of low/band/high just doesn't seem to be enough nowdays. (well it actually IS enough, but not always)
*its pitch bend and modulation wheel are OK, but after playing with nord lead's bend and wheel all the rest is dull, isn't it ?

regarding comparison to the lead, ks4 has more features for patch creating maniacs, but still if you hear bot of them you might prefer nord over ks4

but go for it. if you can find it used at something like $400, then get it.           http://triplex.trance.net

i think the nord lead 2 keyboard is not sensitive to note/channel aftertouch. it does not have this mechanism.

that's what I meant, and not if its patches can be programmed to respond to aftertouch over midi.

the guy asked if he can use it as a midi controller and I answered that yes it is, but it's probably inferior to many other keyboards because it cannot transmit this kind of information which, for some players, might be useful.           http://triplex.trance.net

I agree with the other dane (Psypox)!
But modular G2 is actually alot easier than the old ones... if you have loads and loads of pathes this machine is as good as any (when considering the fast outdating on onboard digital effects). However if your planning on not paying for the full version (which is beyond your economy), you will need a keyboard.

Nordlead 2X is a mother... and who doesnt love mama? My first synth was a Nord Rack and it is still my favourite...

On your question "is it possable to connect the nordlead as a midi controller?": You simply MUST connect your Nord (or any other similar synth)as a midicontroller since that's the way to make your computer understand what it does... This is how you record your knob tweaks.

Are you a hardcore pianoplayer? If yes: Consider buying a rack version and a slappy plastic midikeyboard, until you can afford some pro keys.
If no: Dont worry so much about aftertouch, you will find cooler ways to modulate stuff.

Do not buy:
Acces Virus A or Rack
Micro Q rack
KS4 or any other K

Buy:
Nordlead/rack 2x
Nordmodular engine
Virus (k)B or Indigo

For $1500, I'm sure I would buy the Virus KC, the most powerful synth ever produced.(aham, there is a monster called Virus TI now...)
I've already had a Virus B and in my opinion, the Access's sound is the BEST! Nothing else matter...

thanx for your answers
i will go on the nord lead2x.
its just sounds the best to me.
I'll try to use it as a midi controller as well.
if the results won't be good,I will consider buying edirol or oxygen controller
