The Synergy Project
Friday February 18th 2005, 10pm – 8am
SEOne, Weston Street, London SE1
£15 / £10 Concessions (students, unemployed, partner NGO members)
more info http://www.thesynergyproject.org, info@thesynergyproject.org, 07766 566691

London's most diverse, creative and progressive night returns with 4 rooms of eclectic multimedia from the cream of London's creative underground. Synergy stalwarts are joined by old and new friends to explore global environmental consciousness to become much, much more than just a trance night, with whole food cafes, healing, performance art, drama, poetry, conscious cinema, drum circle and the friendliest of community vibes, Synergy is setting the new standard in post-commercial partying.

Synergy has now arrived – heralded by a growing number as the best party in London, if not the UK, for it’s diverse creativity, high production standards, a friendly and relaxed, unpretentious crowd and for the constantly evolving nature of the project – no two Synergies are ever the same, with new organisations, artists, campaigners teaming up with veterans to produce inspiring new collaborations. Above all, Synergy stands aside from the hedonism and consumption of conventional club-land with the ever present intent of raising awareness of contemporary environmental, social justice and spiritual issues, while generating a strong sense of purpose and a feeling of being part of something bigger, and more meaningful, than the isolated individual.

For the forthcoming event, Synergy welcomes back the Liquid Connective, who will be hosting a room of light, funky psy-trance, brining new and fresh ideas in deco and light installations to the mix. A true celebration of cutting edge dance, trance and live performance. ID Spiral return with their mesmerizing blend of performance art and global chill, conscious visuals and live tunes set in as ever breathtaking environments. This time IDSpiral will collaborate with London Rising Tide, part of a grassroots network, confronting the root causes of climate change and promoting local, community-run solutions to our energy needs. The Spiral Chill will also host the Conscious Fashion Walk - an initiative to combine ethical designers and NGO's to raise awareness on the ills of the global Fashion Industry whilst wearing positive solutions such as organic textiles, hemp, fair trade, worker's co-op and DIY fashion. The Small World Stage, stringing together live musicians from around the world, also returns with their uniquely diverse array of performers. The Gallery space welcomes the Gods and Goddesses Galactic Cabaret, hosted by Galactic Federation Agent 82 a.k.a. Paradox and features the cream of London’s progressive performance poets, singer song-writers and the legendary open mic session.

Synergy are also proud to welcome the return of Shamanic rapper and ritual theatre host John Crow for a roaming presentation of Participatory Synergistic Intervention, a short drama which will spontaneously manifest itself throughout the party during the course of the night. This ritual drama-happening will be developed from scratch in a workshop held early in the night - so come early to make sure YOU are in it!!! It is conducted by the director, playwright, poet and performer John Constable aka John Crow - the author of The Southwark Mysteries and the man who adapted Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast for the stage. John is regularly seen performing his own highly original performance work at Synergy - now he's encouraging you to bring out your inner performer.

A vibrant Conscious Fringe hosts campaign stalls from non-governmental organisations such as Oxfam, Actionaid, Survival International, Corporate Watch and Tourism Concern alongside whole food cafes serving chai, organic cakes and vegetarian sushi and healers practicing massage and other relaxation therapies.

All this, for less than the cost of many run of the mill night of DJs and the occasional live act: £15 on the door, with a £10 concession for students or the unemployed (current proof required)

Advance tickets can be purchased on line, via Access All Areas or via 0207 678 8320. For group bookings and discounts please email info@thesynergyprojec.org

Throughout my whole life, during every moment I have lived, the world has gradually been taking on light and fire for me, until it has come to envelope me in one mass of luminosity, glowing from within….The purple flush of matter fading imperceptibly into the gold of spirit, to be lost finally in the incandescence of a personal universe.

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience,
We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Humanity is “nothing less than evolution become conscious of itself.”

Pierre Teilhard de Chadin

“Instantly I walked in I knew I’d come home! I could go on about the psytrance, live bands, the décor, the art and literature and environmental projects laid out for all to see – But honestly the best bit was that vibe, with everyone smiling, and there in the spirit to which I think the organisers intended…This event is going places…”

Urban 75

Small World Solar Stage

The UK’s unique live music outfit joins Synergy in its ambitious task to induce the spirit of the great outdoor festivals to the heart of London.
Musicians from around the globe producing music beyond genres. Tapping into the explosion of creativity beneath the surface of the mainstream. Weaving it all together to produce those moments of pure magic that occur between an audience in awe and the performers in their deepest elements.

Mordekkers – Tight and driving, intricate and strangely trancelike caledonian dane

Kangaroo Moon – Kickass live celtic didge trance by the these festival favourites

GAUDI – DJ set + live dub manipulation presenting his new album “Bass, Sweat and tears” (Interchill Records) www.gaudimusic.com

Fantasmagoria – Spin up the energy with their gypsy ska cabaret.

DJ sets by Pony with an intoxicating mix of live and studio recordings from the bands that have performed on stage and cutting edge Arabic delights by Tehomas.
And when your dancing feet are tired chill out at the Small Worlds Fair Trade Café and enjoy the walkabout shenanigans from residents Captain Banana and Majic Man.

PSI (Party-cipatory Synergistic Interventions) Theatre with John Crow

At the next synergy – DON’T JUST SIT THERE CONSUMING – DO SOMETHING!

Here’s your chance to take part in a short, wacky, synergy-friendly dramatic HAPPENING which will spontaneously manifest at various party space/times – to astound and amuse our fellow party people.

The drama will be developed from scratch in a workshop (10.30 TO 11.30pm) – so come early to make sure YOU are in it!!!

The drama workshop will be FUN in itself – with lots of theatre GAMES.
It’s directed by John Constable aka John Crow – author of THE SOUTHWARK MYSTERIES and the man who adapted Mervyn Peakes GORMENGHAST for the stage. John is regularly seen performing his own highly original work at SYNERGY – now he’s encouraging YOU to bring out your own inner performer.

No previous acting experience required. Just turn up @ SEOne and get to the Blue Arch / ID Spiral chill space by 10.30pm.

“The egocentric ideal of a future reserved for those who have managed to attain egoistically the extremity of ‘everyone for himself’ is false and against nature. No element could move and grow except with and by all the others with it”

“The outcome of the world, the gates of the future, the entry into the super-human
---these are not thrown open to a few of the privileged nor to one chosen people to the exclusion of others. They will open only to an advance of all together, in a direction in which all together can join and find completion in a spiritual renovation of the earth”
