From what I understand, it is quite difficult to profit from throwing a festival.
Call me crazy, or perhaps a closet optimist looking for the silver lining in the behaviour of human beings, but I have a suspicion that the organizers of this festival have calculated things so as to not lose thier shirt, not run away from this with dripping teeth muttering "its all mine!, its all mine!"
That said, yes, it does look rather expensive. But so is my guitar, which would cost 7K to replace. The instrument is also a masterpiece and precise and gives me much joy.

Is the only way to volunteer to watch this page:
http://www.symbiosisgathering.com/news/volunteers/
That still says: "We’re still looking for dedicated volunteers for 2007! ... Online volunteer application is coming soon - check this page for more info."

Why should the motivation for throwing this party be any of your business??? And what is wrong with organizers making money, or even doing a party specifically to make money, not that this appears to be that kind of festival. If you don't like it, go to another festival... There are plenty of psy centric line ups out there thrown by organizers hell bent on losing money through idealism, rather than mixing up the sound for the sake of the oh so evil profit.

Yep so american of you to say that...
Nothing is wrong with profit, profit is good BUT. At $250 this is one of the most expensive festivals in the World Psy or not check out a short list here
http://edition.cnn.com/2009/TRAVEL/04/28/summer.festivals/index.html
Granted way less people will visit this one but at $250 by at least 1000 people not counting the money that will be brought in by the various stores attending the Festival. It is makes a VERY VERY VERY hefty profit whichever way you look at it.
Whatever I am not arguing just stating that this is very expansive. It might be worth it. But it is overpriced from any point of view you look at it and this long talk that is brought here proves it. Whenever the people feel the price is just they would not go talking about it for many pages.

this is exactly why i wanted to see more giant headliners other than Bass Nectar, and Simon and some other ones....i feel like at $250 these guys should be able to afford almost any awesome act....plus it seems that this year there is no road issues or transportation difficulties like the last 2 yrs on that crazy ass road.....not bitching but not completely aligned with price...especially after looking at the list that was posted |

I know
I just don't get that kind of behavior - if you don't like the price (read - can't afford) - don't go. No one forces you to do so. Or, which is better idea, try and throw your own festival for half the price or for free? Why not?
Usually I'm not paying attention to sych a things (same with people complaining about Burning Man hehe) but once per year I blow up (today it happend after spending whole day in hot as hell non airconditioned room dealing with bullshit at work :/ )

Both Glastonbury and Bonaroo have both already happened so if you are gong to either of these your are going to need a TIME MACHINE and Deloreans are going for $15K MINIMUM...
Not to mention you will have to research and develop a flex capacitor and find some enriched uranium... Don't cross those terrorists either... You know what happens...
Tickets are still $180... and you can BYOW...
YOU WILL NOT PAY $12 FOR A 24 oz. BEER AT OUR EVENT. You can bring your own ON THE DANCEFLOOR...
Volunteer applications can be sent to sg09volunteers@gmail.com. Thanks for spotting that 2007 mention. We're still dusting off the cobwebs from our hiatus.
I will be gone for the next 6 days or so so please don't freak out while I'm gone.
We are trying to count all of our money from the events we do that make so much profit that we have to use bulldozers to pile it up in warehouses. We are looking for a new warehouse because 250,000 square feet just isn't big enough for our profits...
As anyone knows, North American trance festivals are where the REAL money is...
PS... Tickets are $180
