Festivals are events where its not about the names that play on stage but about the crowd that colours them and makes the vibe and the heart of the festival.
If u say so.
Why cant we have both? Music that satisfies and good people to share it with. I dont think thats too tall of an order to fill.

Because I guess as events grow larger, it's harder to satisfy everyone. I am not a local, but think if that Festival had 2 times more Psy Trance to it, then it would have 2 or 3 times less crowd to it, then it wouldn't look or feel so good, less amazing stages, art and deco, probably not enough income to get that amazing location paid for, and then people would be bitching about the event not being "Festivally enough"

Wow Paradigm... You are the only person who I've heard that had that negative of experience... Sorry you didn't have good times at an event people told me was the 'best festival ever.'
I put a TL;DR at the bottom for those who are literacy impaired. I noticed BePhree and Zariat were reading everything on this thread - HOPEFULLY to understand reaction to their event, and HOPEFULLY to use it to make things better for next time. So I laid everything out as best I could. I'm not making you read Aeon - though you could experience Symbiosis vicariously through me if you wanted. I DO have an extra In-n-Out hat!!

yeah....as GMSF reminds me every year, progressive only does NOT = A complete trance dance experience....it is simply too slow
and as far as the "feather-leather" crowd goes, dont hate on people simply because you want to mate with them....for real..what are these people doing to YOU by dancing around suggestively to dubstep? did THEY come over and steal the trance stage's gas cap to keep you down, or what, cause it seems like if you wanted trance, you might have to change stages, but it seems like you could find a 4/4 relatively easy @ this event @ pretty much any time
Knowing full well artists like Penta DID play @ Night, I couldnt complain about too much....but I suggest the SG crew listen to what we are saying, for your own good....we're good people, and we've kept this good thing goan for a while...maybe theres SOMETHING TO people being TURNED OFF by TRANCE MUSIC...it seems like the originators like the music just fine....what is it about these neo-hippies that makes them naturally turn off to the overwhelmingly positive, healing, and even booty shakin aspects of trance music? WERE THEY EVER REALLY on TO BEGIN WITH?

Just back from what was a challenging, inspiring, jaw dropping, chaotic and symbiotically magical experience. Perspective, perspective, perspective, I had to do my best to keep an accurate perspective through the first 40 hours of work with no sleep. Yes, there are many things about the general festival infrastructure that could have been handled better, but you know what, we learn! and we only learn by dreaming big and working together as a community to create a beautiful alternative vision for ourselves.
All this bickering about musical styles. Again, perspective! I think we have much more serious arguments to pursue and bigger battles to fight. Seriously, we don't have time to waste with this. Symbiosis is not a trance festival, if you didn't notice by the fact that Les Claypool was the headliner. Its an experience and experiment all at once. We have to learn to come together and work as a community, this is good practice for us, trust me we will need these skills in the years to come.
I worked harder than ever before, challenging every aspect of my physical, mental and emotional being. I feel fully activated by this work. I am so grateful for the support of my team, for all the hardworking and dedicated people who put out so much energy towards making this a reality. I am honored to work with such a vibrant and visionary community and i look forward to devoting more energy next time to smoothing out the infrastructure and organization to allow the creative energies to flow even more fluidly.
And Paradigm, I cannot understand any of your statements. I confirmed Kox Box's ride with you when I sent you the schedule and you agreed. You completely bailed on him and I only ask that you think of the consequences of your actions. You seriously messed up. I would think that as a "trancer" you would actually care about Kox Box, a 30 year musical veteran to trance and making sure to get him to the airport for his flight as was agreed upon with you..
But anyway, I don't want to detract from the magic of this gathering. Everything worked out in the end. I'm finding out who in my community I want to be working with and towards what goals and visions I want to focus my energy. The symbiotic magic is still flowing through me even as I unpack and unwind and begin to think about the next one!
deep gratitude and respect, I am completely blown open by this experience! thanks to all that participated.

I didn't go this year but was at the first one and the three after that. I was initially really put off by the price of this festival but after reading all the reviews (funny how this is the only site where reviews are negative) and seeing pictures, videos, and hearing about how much value this added to peoples lives, I was definitely wrong and should have gone out.
Kudos to the vision, you guys are definitely doing something right for the community and I think it's awesome the vision is above the music.

oh well...im sorry for the ones that didn't go because thought was too expensive, you basically missed the BEST gathering US has, to not say one of the top psychedelic gatherings in planet earth....OUTSTANDING
and paradigm dude, 1st you bash it, than you say you are going to help...than you proved how your words and actions should be ignored forever...how did you live the party and left koxbox behind? wtf?
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and support. Although Symbiosis Events put on the event, the experience was co-created by many. Thanks to everyone who helped out!
I think the DJS who are bitching about the festival are most probably not happy about not being booked at a festie that they feel they have earned the right to play at over the course of the years..
hypocrisy is just as common in psytrance as anywhere..for all the talk of positive energy and vibes..they cant handle the negative vibes for even one festie:) just shows they are no diff than anyone else..
