I have to say this was probably the best outdoor event I've been to. Whoever set this up managed to get a huge Boy Scout camp in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains in California. The sky was amazing, the sound system they had in all different locations was so good I wanted to cry. Tracks I'd heard before sounded absolutely beautiful and new in the context of this place. There was so much going on all the time it would take me a solid day to write about how incredible I thought everything was, but I'll just summarize the experience with, "HOLY SHIT, FUCKING AWESOME." Props really have to go to those that put this on, whoever you are, because even with Bamboo Forest skipping out on the show, whoever took their place put on some tracks that were probably better than what they could have played live. Bamboo Forest really missed out on a killer venue, this place was a great find. Anyone know whatever happened to them?

I also went to this event. All in all it was a very fun and enjoyable gathering. Although I am very disappointed Bamboo Forest did not show up. There were six of us who came out from Arizona specifically to see them. 24 total hours of driving and 1600 miles round trip. Luckily, there was just enough rocking psytrance to make up for it. Chromatone made a special appearance in the absence of Bamboo Forest. He ended up playing the opening psytrance set on Saturday night to our great relief. The psytrance was scheduled to begin at 11pm, but didn't end up starting until about 2am. We patiently waited through several bands which we honestly did not care to hear. We came to hear PsyTrance and were all freaking out when it finally started! It was great to hear KJ play again. Last heard him play at a party we threw here in AZ in 2003. Treavor played a great full on set; I love to see the DJ get into his music like he did! The venue was quite remarkable. A Boy Scout camp with many amenities. Running water and flush toilets made things very comfortable. We arrived before sunset on Friday and set up camp at a real choice spot just up the hill from the main stage. This was also the first time I got to see the mighty redwoods of California! Simply amazing, looking forward to seeing the real big trees someday. The site was one of the finest settings for a music festival. The camp was situated on a mountainside several miles off the highway. The stages were set up far enough apart to prevent any sound bleeding. In fact, the two main stages were separated by a very large hill and several hundred yards. The third stage was located inside the lodge. That's where the chill music, yoga, and workshops took place. As I said, all in all it was a great time. The crew was very friendly and accommodating. Thanks to Scott for picking up some much needed ice. I will definitely go to another event by this crew. But I do hope that in the future they focus more on the Psytrance. This event was like 3 different gatherings in one: A psytrance party, a rave, and a satellite Burning Man event.
