once it happened by accident that in the middle of the sx3 screen was an extra ruler with the number of the bars on it. like a track. never got it back.
now that a project became long with many tracks it would be nice to have it back. to reduce the scrolling up and down.
does anybody have an idea how this option is called/activated in SX3 where you get an extra flexible ruler? thanx in advance.

Right click -> "Add Ruler Track" seems to be what you want.           New Album: Jikkenteki - Flights Of Infinity

great jikkenteki. yes thats the one. so stupid simple.

to sound surgeon; how's this top track in your picture called? (with intro/bridge/chorus etc)

and off topic; the fart button you are pointing to made place for 'congratulations' when i opened the picture again, can become a confusing post. anyhow thnx.

Sound Surgeon meant the Event Info Line button (look at the top left of his pic and you'll see a button with a little red circle round it). This button brings up a line above the arrangement that shows details of whatever object(s) is/are selected. It doesn't show you a ruler of any sort. Sound Surgeon is not just confusing, he's downright wrong.

Jikkenteki - that will add another ruler track for sure, but vipal asked how to add an 'extra flexible' one to 'reduce scrolling' - so here's how to split the arrangement window and add a new ruler at the top that will not disappear when you scroll the arrangement down:

At the top of the track list in the Project Window, next to the master mute, solo and automation read/write buttons are two little symbols. First is four coloured boxes, one above the other - press this and each track in the track list will show its colour around its activity meter (you can use this coloured area on each track to select the track colour but that's a bit offtopic ) The next button (showing a rectangle) is the one you want - it splits the track list so you get two independant panes. Right click in the top pane and create a new ruler track (perhaps showing seconds rather than bars and beats?), and move the divider up so that there's no wasted space in the top pane.

Bingo.

Note - if you create a new track in the wrong pane by mistake, right-click it and select "Toggle Track List" (bottom option) and it will move to the other pane.
