I have a nord lead2 and a virus a running into a 2x2 midisport and the audio running through a small audio mixer and running into the line in on the computer (powerbook g4 1.67 ghz 2 ghz RAM) my problem arose when I tried to turn the knobs while recording the audio I realized that recording midi and audio at the same time is making cubase stop responding (spinning pinwheel thing) the whole rest of the project will keep playing but I cant do anything except force quit.
any ideas??
thanks:

Try recording the midi part first with the controllers and then play back the midi part and record it. That would be the first for me to do.
A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life. |

Have u fixed your trouble?
It was a terrible head ache for me before i learned what's the reason.
The thing is there's a midi loop made. To avoid it check File>Preferences> and disactivate Midi Thru in MIDI section.
Hope it will help. |

Just as alex said i record a midi track, make some changes and maybe draw in the automation (if any), and then i play it back and record it to an audio track. There maybe another way, but it works for me |

Recording midi data first, then audio - it goes without saying. I thought the problem is when you begin tweaking knobs and Cubase hangs and u can't fix it without restarting Windows. |
