in my current sx3 set up, in an audiotrack the automation follows with the audiopart. i want to move this audiopart without its previously made automation and put it on top of other automation i already made but it looks like the old automationpattern is stuck to the audiopart. also when i put the automation off write its still stuck with the audiopart. what setting is this in sx3 to not let automation follow the audiopart it's on?

and also using this opportunity: in project set-up i see stereo pan law; now its on equal power, does this mean the output of any panned signal is optimal?(for me it would be if the sound looses hardly volume if panned) or is 0 db better for this?

Check the Edit menu; there's an option there to turn off 'Automation follows parts'. Careful though, it's very easy to get confused.

0dB pan law means that the level of the sound does not change when panned; this results in a boost to the level of the sound when panned centrally. I use 4.5dB pan law but it's up to what you think sounds best; equal power can also be a good choice.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

thnx, good to understand. i will try different pan law settings, i guess, as always, it differs for different things what sounds best. i can imagine that some boost when pan is in the middle can add some groove.

You can only set one pan law per project, as it affects all sounds the same way. I don't think it adds groove though; what it does is destroy the balance of your mix if you decide to change a sound's pan position after you've set its level.
