Hi all, just a quick question. I recently made the update from cubase 5 to sx and all is well except...when i double click on an audio file and go into the the audio editor i cant seem to find the scissors to enable me to chop and re-arrange a sample. I use this all the time and did it in 5 so i guess it must be available. If anyone could help i would be very grateful...thanks:)

It's available but you don't need to double click into the wav sample
on the sequencer, zoom as much as you need then use the scissors.
Make sure you know how's the snap tool is working in sx-
When i just moved from 5 to SX i was go crazy because of this thing
reply if you didn't understand me

Further to Input's entry:
Audio can now be placed directly onto the arrange window, ie it doesn't need to be inside a part. This means that you can edit your audio without going into another editor. You might want to put the edited audio inside a part though when you're done as this makes it easier to handle.
You could also put the audio into a part before you edit it; this would now make it handle in exactly the same way you're used to.
Double-clicking on raw audio (ie audio that is not inside a part) takes you into the sample editor... think of it as a basic version of Sound Forge inside Cubase and you won't go too far wrong. |

Hope you dont mind, i have more questions...
is there no option to turn the snap off? It makes it very hard to cut samples accurately when i cant do this.

Imo the best way to cut audio samples is using quantize(not bar or beat). Then go for 1/128.
But if u want turn the snap off, just press the button called snap point. It´s near to the play/stop/loop buttons, more on right side. If I can remember the button is something like this: ><....

cuting is very powerfull tool to manipulate audio samples. you can use half of what your using, u can make variations of the same sample, u can chop sample into tiny pieces and make a manually gate effect. its more work but its just the way you want it and its more fun!
