Hi..For some reason i cannot start SX 3 with my laptops internal soundcard..It gives an error after trying to initialise my external soundcard'a ASIO driver..
It works perfectly with my external soundcard & it used to work with the internal one as well..I've tried all the ASIO mulitmedia settings..Is there any way i can get SX to skip loading the external driver when starting up?

Do you still have the other soundcard on hand? I'd try Plugging it in, open the track, and save the project with a different audio device selected from the control panel.
Also... using the generic "ASIO Multimedia driver" totally sucks, usually there is a more specific ASIO driver for most cards, I'm not sure if that's what you meant. http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

Er, you could download the ASIO4ALL drivers, but it sounds like the problem is Cubase is expecting a device to be there, and crashing when it isn't.
I haven't seen this error on my system at home, but I've encountered it on friends computers that have... ahem... non-retail versions. I'm assuming it's a bug. Even if you have ASIO4ALL, it seems like the problem is coming from switching hardware without warning, so even if it's ASIO4ALL its still a different driver than the song was written in. I think you need to switch drivers BEFORE you switch the hardware.

well... today we (me & friends) had a similar problem but different... we were installing a new pc, with a Ozonic midi keyboard (the one with an internal soundcard) and a onboard soundcard. no sound was coming out... but after we disabled the onboard card in the control panel it worked. try disabling your external one and do what Aeon said. hope this was helpful. |
