...super is enough today =(-;

go for an asus board ( very important is fast fsb --> chk what ur cpu can handle ) with firewire. at least 512 mb of ram ( pc3200 or more ) as graphx card i suggest u one without fan (...welcome to tornado-studios...) i.g. the matrox g550 ( even with dual-head...the "ideal" graphx-card for doing noise )
ide hd with 7200rpm (...scsi isn t worth anymore ) chk wd, matrox ( 8mb cache, high data-transfer n fast seek-time ).
amd or intel doesnt matter...i would never buy an intel cause it s intel, but both works fine.
ou...and the g5 is out....=(-;

good luck

it is nice, i wish you luck... but still the sky is the limit in this business. so if you expose your budget and what you already have,
it will be easier to talk "turkey"

...i suggest u to build your own...it s cheaper, it s better...( don t save money at the house...a cheap one will absorb noise (usually...) not as good...)

I have a minor question myself... I bought an Audiophile 24/96 PCI soundcard and when I installed it, I get this noisy hum. It is installed a little close to the CPU MOBO and I noticed it has a noisy fan. I have two questions: Can anyone recommend an inexpensive quiet fan, and would installing my sound card into a PCI slot that is lower than what I had it in originally change the noise issue?           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

The hum is from the speakers or from inside the computer?

I am not sure honestly... The hum happens when I plug my audio interface into my sound system. I haven't plugged my headphones into my computer directly. I also noticed a hum when recording into my audio interface.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

And to Surrender: I personally had a bit of success building (or having someone else) build one from just parts. This will allow you to avoid any extra crap that you don't need.

I purchased an AMD 2400 (got mobo & cpu Combo)
512 MB ram
160 Gig Hard Drive
a really cheap fan
Audiophile 24/96
Keyboard/Mouse
I forget what videocard I got, but a friend gave it to me...
and all told I believe that I paid $680 for it...

I went to Frys for the parts but make sure that you know your Ram specs for the motherboard you are using. I am still dealing with an issue where the techs sold me incompatible ram and it killed my motherboard....

get a 2500, 2700 or higher.
2600, 2400, and lower are using the old Thunderbird core which has less onchip memory, heats up faster, and more or less sucks
