i guess that's what i'm trying to say... i have no illusions about actually and truly infiltrating Avalon, but i do want to think positively. Sorry if i sound like such a happyhappy simple soul..... But i suppose part of me is exactly that.....!

And SpaceShark, i'm with you 100% - trance is much more than the music - it's that creation of a beautiful, alternative space - which is why i would love for more of us to be there at these shows to give more of a real trance flavour to the parties.

That's also why i'm so down on promoters - or so demanding of them, i should say... I expect them to bend just a little bit to get us in there in large numbers.....

But it's also why i also understand why you don't want to set foot in there, SpaceShark...!!!

wellllll anyway... i guess at the end of the day, all of us can at least look forward to the next TDC party... or our next trip to Goa.... and meanwhile i'll just keep dreaming my idealistic thoughts about the conversion of househeads and breakbeaters to tranceheads...

....ahhhh....

"and meanwhile i'll just keep dreaming my idealistic thoughts about the conversion of househeads and breakbeaters to tranceheads..."

you...you...homewrecker!!! >:| ....

just kidding.

(but nothing wrong with breaks/dnb/house(tribal and deep...the darka the betta) and/or minimal)

haha, you set yourself on a mission too? i tried doing that to hardcore hiphop/rock/metal people. Most people who actually have understanding of their kind of music or music at all do give me honest critique of the music that i give them to listen to. But people who listen to KTU(i live in the tri-state area and this is the pop and cheesy techno radio station) are reluctant to accept anything except 4X4 remixes of some pop songs. Soo, that is it.

Oh, and i'm also glad that promoters are taking our suggestions and comments into consideration, as some of us said before...forgot who though...

@robomarket

You're right, some of my friend from rock/heavy metal background actually like psy/goa music. Some even stopped listening to their genre and fully converted to trance "movement" (thanks to a few excellent parties i introduced them to).....but pop and hiphop listeners are really relactant or simply "I don't like this shit"....Hm?

Any ideas why is that?

I would guess it was due to the relative complexity of most metal; pop and hip hop tends to be much simpler in structure, thus making the jump to psy a little longer.

I think it's about types of personalities, but more than anything, the culture that this type of music reflects upon people. Psy people tend to be more relaxed, peaceful, mellow and outgoing and definately no egotripping in pystrance. Hip Hop influences people with harsh rhymes and lyrics that make the listener to aspire towards what the rapper is rapping about. But let's not confuse something...I'm talking about mainstream hip hop.

I think that people who listen to Psytrance would actually love to listen to NinjaTunes type of HipHop or Nu Jazz or Breaks. These styles are rich with elements and have a positive vibe.

Most people in the US are lacking music education. Most people, in fact, listen to what is popular without even showing any interest for finding something alternative to what they are listening to.

@robomarket and skeeve

Interesting points. I think you're both have some truth in your comments.

What i find ironic though is people that come from a hard rock background (such as myself) tend to enjoy and appreciate psy trance more than others. And rock, especially hard rock is not the easiest and friendliest genre to listen to.
Personally, I can't link rock to trance. I heard my first goa/psy track about 8 years ago and never looked back I don't want to say that I completely abandoned my AC/DC or Metallica CD's, but for some reason my car player or Ipod mainly play GMS, CPU, etc.....

@ Spaceshark

Lots of psy artists have been in rock/punk/metal bands before they started to make psytrance. So i could say that psytrance and "guitar" music kind of share the similar energy and motion.
