Yeah, that's right, but you need to think in the long-term: If you are serious about music creation, a darla would not be suffcient in the future and it would be a shame to spend more money then.
Therefore, you should buy at least a Gina card, No less.

About the Nord micro modular, well, all the nordlead synths have been over-used by many artists, including the micro-modular.

Maybe you can find a Virus A, which is older, cheaper, but not bad at all.

allow me to disagree with u a darla can b sofficiant in the future if u know how to work with it i agree that the gina is better beacause of its digital outs i know lots of peopole that work with the darla u know what the mia is a good one for it to all the echo cards have the same converters the only differance between the cards r the outputs so they all will give him good sound quality for the mix and when u start u better start with a good sound and a darla is agood start he will be able to sell it and upgrade to agina or layla or even am ona when he will have the money its better to start with echo then sound blaster and get forostrated when u play ur track in a stereo and u c that there is so much that u couldnt hear when u mixed it at least like that it will teach him to mix better i say it from my expiriance dude about the nord u like son kite, necton, ticon, logic bomb, shiva chandrametc...they all use nord and micro and the bueaty about the micro thats its amodular and i am shure u know what that meens it meens u can create ur own syths so he will be a ble to get his unique sound form it u r talking high yeah shure if the guy had alot of money and he wanted anew studio i would tell him to buy a super nova or a virus etc.. and not a gina but a mona but the guy wants to start making music and i think a mia /darla + amicro modular is a fine way to start and anot so expesive so yeah i agree a virus is better and a mona is better but thats when u have the money,u goto start some where and to buy it bit by bit ant upgrade here and there will make it easier for him to start his studio

That's a good advice :-)!

But:
1.A modular synth might be too difficult for the beginning.

2.In the future, Why a Mona and not a Layla?

Dear people, darla has been RECENTLY discontinued by echoaudio, as a result of success of other models of their soundcards.
About the nord, let's mention infected mushroom,
probably the first album

well y not layala but i think the mona is now better then the lyala or at least the same standart it has all the outputs including a dat and i think it also has a midi in/out to
well any one of them is kewl i wish i had the money to buy me a mona or layla:-)
u r right about micro that it might b difficult to master for a beginer but it comes with acd with about 2000 ensambeles on it so u have preaty much to play with for 2500 nis i think it well worth the money for what u get from it
alex yeah its the only model who was only analog with no digital in/outs so no wonder the others had more sucsses but he can get one cheep and its nice card to start so does the mia
