hey Ben,
First of all, i'm sorry to announce you that you wouldn't be able to buy both a good sound card and a good (new) synth for 7000 NIS.
I would advice you to:
1.Buy a synth first, and after a while to buy a professional sound card, OR
2.Buy a synth, and Buy a SB live sound card which will suffice adequate quality and performance, OR
3.If you're really new to trance creation, save your money for now, and continue using software and learning from it (i've done that for 2.5 years, and only recently felt fledged enough to use hardware).
4.Look for used equipment. Sometimes, you can get very nice deals.
Now, for the hardware recommendations:
1.For a professional sound card, I recommend echo audio's Layla24, or m-audio's Delta 1010. These are really good sound cards, the only problem is the price: They are both sold here for about 5000 NIS, which will consume a large sum of your budget.
2. About the synth, i recommend the Virus (9000 NIS for the keyboard model), the waldorf TX (7000-7500 NIS), the nova (6400 NIS) or the korg MS-2000 (4900 NIS). You can check out the first two in "Music shop" in disingof 70 ,Tel-aviv, and the last two in "Marom musical instruments" in D-mall, Ramat-gan.
3.About the mc-505, well, it's a groovbox and you don't need that right now (or ever).
Hope i helped (and didn't make you tired ;-)), Tom.

i didnt mean to buy new stuff with this money... im talking anyway about used stuff. what do you mean that i dont need the m.c-505? i've been told it has good sounds and i can do good things with this thing. isnt that truth? is it better to work with a good synth & softwarez? about a sound card, my system get crush after 25 patterns of fruity (adding rebirth sounds), so i guess i must solve this first... (or that my system crush because of other reason? i have pentium 450 and 64mb memory) what i thought is to by a card around 2000 shekel - if there is a good one at that price - is it warth to do it?

I do believe there are good sound cards for 2000, such as the Gina24 or Darla24, and they are worth buying (use can always use them in the future together with additional sound card(s). You can check 'em out at:
http://www.echoaudio.com Under products.
BTW - You should call "music shop". They have very attractive deals from time to time. For example, a month ago they had a Delta1010 card from Tetzuga (used in the shop) for only 2500 NIS. |

I have Roland MC-505 Groove-Box... It's OK for the start but you will sell it sooner then you think, I have my MC-505 for 2-3 month and I'm already thinking of selling it!
The Virus machine is a bit difficult but it's an excellent machine and I'm thinking of buying one myself!
My advice:
- Buy a "Pulsar Pro sound bluster" (5,000 nis) - Buy a MIDI keyboard controller (2,000 nis)
Thats is man...this shit should be good for at least 2-3 years I guess!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! |

The Pulsar sound cards are unique and different from other sound cards, because they contain several DSP chips on them, which are responsible for many functions: Recording and processing audio, generating different effects such as flanger and reverb, driving virtual synthesizers and samplers and maybe few thing i have forgotten.
All this might sound tempting, but because the card has to operate so many functions in the same time, the performance are poor.
Therefore I suggest not to use Pulsar cards regarding the following reasons:
1. Because they are responsible for the entire audio functions, when you try to use many of Pulsar's effects and abilities at once, the results aren't good.
2. The Pulsar cards are very limited, because you CANNOT use all the audio programs you want, but only those which the card "allows".
3. The sound quality of the great majority of virtual synths Pulsar offers is quiet poor.
BTW - You CAN check the luna card. It's good for recording audio, and it hasn't have the virtual synths and FX section.
Plur, Tom. |

You are talking shit my man!!!
The pulsar card has the highest quality from all the pro sound cards and it works with every software there is!!!
If you dont have this card so dont write stuff about something you dont know about!!! |

Look, Mr. Project, if you want to say something, say it peacefully, OK?
1. I know what i'm talking about. I tried the Pulsar for several hours in "Music shop" in TA and I have a friend with a Pulsar card (which i've also played with), and he thinks the same.
2. I said the virtual synth quality is poor, not the audio recording quality (Astral are using it to record audio from their equipment), so kindly read carefully before you respond.
Peace & Luv, Tom. |

Listen guys...I have a virtual-analog sunth (NX1) It's not the best sound, but the sound of the synth is almost perfect, and if someone saying that i'm wrong...he don't understand a thing.
"Pulsar sound blaster pro" is helping to keep the high quality of the sound while you transfer MIDI signals to the modular of the sound blaster!
Pulsar is an exellent sound blaster, although there are better ones.......! |

To ben.....:
I tell you the true idea... With your amount of money I would set up a very very very very nice studio (for the begining). And 7000 nis is a big amount, don't take advices from anyone because if you dont know what to buy, you dont understand about making music and you shouldn't get into this buisness at all...
Take some time to learn about the differnt media, Learn about the next stuff: - Synth - Groove-box - Multi effect - Goove-synth - Sequenser - MIDI recording - MIXERS (For studio)
and then decide what is the best thing for you because you have enough money for every machine you want! |

well man despite of what was told here u can get some kewl stuff in 7000 nis even less u can buy one of the echo card that the cheepest of them costs 250$ and its the mia in halilit it costs 1500nis its got 8 virtual outs and a digital in and out the darla which is analogand have 8 analog outs and costs about 350$ in halilit 2750nis or the gina but here u start to get out of budget if u want to buy a synth with the money to the echo cards have very good converters and they produce good sound they r very common between electronic music producers especialy the gina and layla and about the synth u can buy a nord micro modular it costs 2500 nis in music shop u should ad a midi inteface with it that costs abot 800nis so together they will cost about 3300nis or abit more and u have a monster synth i dont have to tell u that the nord sound rules the trance scene its the micro version but still its no different then the nord modular except its not multi timbral and i think it has alittle less polyphony so in about 5000 nis u can have a avery good sound card and a dam kewl synth and still have about 2000nis left btw echo cards r better for mixing and producing music then sound blasters and they cost about the same |
