Hello all, this is my first post here although I have been reading these forums for the past several months!
I currently use a M-Audio audiophile usb sound interface with Mackie HR824 Mark2 monitors. I wanted to add a sub to my setup, but the audio interface does not have any additional inputs and the monitors do not have a sub-out.
I checked out some other audio interfaces and I can't really seem to find any that have more than 2 XLR (or even RCA) inputs.
Can any one offer some advice or suggestions for interfaces that might?
Thanks in advance! |

Get a analog mixer then you can use the Control room output to the sub, but my big question is why do you need a sub to those monitors. Do you happen to have a huge control room?
I got the same monitors as you have and i got rid of my sub the moment i got my HR824MKII

Honestly, I always go way overboard on bass. While the Mackie monitors are awesome, I still feel like they lack the really low end (thumping bass).
I'll mix a song, drop it in my stereo and it has wayyyy too much bass.
I was looking at just getting a cheap studio sub (Fostex) just to monitor my bass levels below 85Hz or so.
It is also a perfect excuse to upgrade my audio interface. The presonus firebox looks pretty good and it has more outputs than I would ever use.
What I was hoping for more was being able to do multiple cut-off freqs for bass. Not all systems cut it off at the same frequency, so I can get a broader range of mixing.
And for any one wondering - Yes I do cut off the really low end, so that isn't the culprit |

As for my control room. It is small. The monitors sit about 2' (less than 1m) from me. I use the "Whole" acoustic space setting. |

its not the monitors that gotta have a sub out..
the sub should have monitor outputs with a crossover.
I think all subs for monitoring purposes are like this... |

I also think that adding a sub might make ur room resonate like hell... u'll be hearing lotsa boom.
But, if u still want to add a sub, I would get the sub that will work best with ur current monitors:

It is designed to work with your monitors.
I would suggest to take it from the store for a try, before you buy it.
