keep in mind this: in your studio accoustics is very important, the size of your room vs the monitors you have, the place where your sit when you produce etc etc
you want balance, you want to ear the sound perfectly clear and catch a decent earing of how the track will sound truely, so there might be reasons to have a SUB or reasons to avoid using SUB´s
some monitors have tweaking to adapt to the room, and sometimes when you feel you need to have more low frequencies, you can push up bass
trying to fit into rooms, but i really dont recomend that to anyone unless they know what their doing
i also neever worked with KRK´s, but it depends alot if your room is bigger or smaller, if its small avoid SUB´s, SUBs in small rooms increase the audio reflection from the walls if you dont have decent bass traps or acoustical treatment in your room forget it, it will not only mess up your earing, tire you up but also give you a false idea about how it sounds really, the best way is to use nearfield monitors
try to have the monitors at the same distance from you than from each other, making a perfect triangle, usualy this is the better way to ear more clear sound, by siting your self in the right place
if your left monitor is 2 meters distance from right, you should be sit 2 meters from both monitors... if your only a meter, then... sit a meter only and so on
this in case you have a small room, if you have a bigger room tis much more complex, and you will to expend alot to have a decent acoustics, bigger rooms require more acuracy, stay away from walls if you have a bigger room, and if your monitors dont sound loud enough, then yes, cut the low frequencies, buy a SUB and use the monitors only for mids and highs
