here is a quote from a famous master of self-expression:
Truth has no path. Truth is living and, therefore, changing. Awareness is without choice, without demand, without anxiety; in that state of mind, there is perception. To know oneself is to study oneself in action with another person. Awareness has no frontier; it is giving of your whole being, without exclusion.

not trying 'promote my own product', but whether this falls into the common definition of psytrance is aside.
i think the melodies tell a story, but not many people these days listen from something beginning to the end. when you're at home, relaxed, light up a spliff, and try these songs out. i promise you there is something different here.
thanks to you all, I've gotten better at the production part of it in the last year, so I'm confident its pretty tight (if not, please let me know).
these songs (all of them) are by-products of my existence, and i think uniquely different from anything else you've heard.
I'm not a DJ, so I dont know if it'll work on the dancefloor per se, but the point is to get you out of your normal mind.
peace, boOM, and any feedback feel free to PM me. already dangerously off-topic, but maybe its ok...

Personally I think for the most part "style" is just something that just evolves from constantly creating music over a looooooooong period of time. Learning an instrument can definately help, but an artists' "style" or melodic sense or what not will generally come across regardless of the instrument involved or the genre or music being made.

My creative ambitions are also pulling me in many directions, but I don't think it's a good idea to release a mishmash of styles under one alias because it's confusing - unless you are Aphex Twin and it's your trademark.

or at least you should have a common thread or theme tying everything together. whether this is conceptual, or based on the sound defines the style, imo

i am using symetric aug sounds and 9tone chords basically ping ponging and contrasting opposites b5 away with a arpeggiator, for my trance, teckno guitar sounds. im using a mco9 and just making rhythm and bass traks to layer my improvisation of symetry over for example. i love the spacieness and tension of these 4note voiced chords with 3half steps inside ,took me 30years to find and enjoy these stimulating and exotic formulas that make themselves from muical nature...will unite with other full blownhard core spacemasters...amsterdam |

do you delete y and try get back to x? or do you follow the y and lets see to which place it will take you away?

| For me, the track tells me how it wants to sound, and I don´t want to interfer, so I never delete and always follow. It much more fun if you don´t
know where you´r going, but it takes more self-esteem to trust the instincts...

word, troll, and maybe Kitnam, this is what you are getting at too..
thats exactly how i feel about it. i may start out with some basic 'kit' elements that might be X, but i never say 'I'm going to make a full-on trance track!' and carry it through to the end. that may be how some professionals do it, but i think it is more fun when the track unfolds like a story.
i think alot of writers write like this too. as they are writing and composing the world, the story unfolds for them as they are telling it
this is the shamans way. to be the focal for energies and inspirations that are from the other side....

i understand your problem very well, happens the same to me... i guess that a live attached to one specific style is way better than a multi-style one, the problem is that it may sometimes be a little bit boring... also it's more hard to produce because you explore the same ideas and formulas over and over again..
it's up to you to decide!
