hi. I have two computers and two souncards and i would like to know which is the best way to get most out of them...
One is Pentium4 2Gb 500 ram with a Motu 828 MkII. The other one is far less powerful
AMD Athlon 1 Ghz with an audigy soundcard.
Is it a good idea to use something like the
steinberg v-stack to join the computers (im using cubase sx), or should i just use the CPU with the motu....????
thanx for your advice..... |

1.which audigy card it is???
2.Motu is very powerful card so go for motu.
although if your audigy is a specially designed card(not a regular one) so you need to look careful. |

VStack sounds like a way to go. You can also do the same with a plain MIDI connection between the 2GHz (master) PC and the Athlon, and get the audio back into the MOTU via S/PDIF from the Audigy.
There's also FX-Teleport but that introduces huge latency at the moment (and I don't think you can use it with VSTi's) so maybe wait for a later version. |

why you want to use both for music?
you're having like overload problem or something?
cause if you're not what is the point?
I would do as SuperGlue said, use the good one and the motu just for music, nothing more, I wouldn't even connect it to internet, and the other for all the other applications and games....
Well, thats what I would 2 with 2 computers..... |

hi again
well superglue, yes i am a bit curious about the possibility of hooking up two cpus with v stack, cause according to steinbergs webpage, this way u can use this program to get the outdated cpus
working as some kind of rack for vst... without adding another sequencer..
ill just hav to try it, tell you if it works..
cheers.. |
