Eh....
I wouldn't do it...unless u know a way off listening 2 'em somewhere else...
It's very personal....
The Yamaha NS 10's where the industry standard for years....
But not my cup of tea....That what i mean...
U can't go for other peoples opinions in this case...
In any sound related device...i would like 2 have a "Hands-on" experience...
But... if u search for "Monitors"...in this section...u'll find so many threads...u'll be busy till the early hours...

Happy reading.. ;}

i recommand the M-audio bx-8
my friend bought them and i helped him mix
few tracks with them, they sound very smooth and phat.
the price is not that much too.

btw, lots of big sound experts such as BT uses them.

I would really listen to them both. You need plenty of bass extension to make mixes that translate well to fat soundsystems. I wasn't able to do it with just my Tannoy Reveals, and i am with the Behringer Truths. If i'm not mistaken the m-audio's are closer to the Reveals then the Truths with regard to bass extension.

m-audios specialy the bx 8
dont try to compare bx 5 with behringer truths cos they are much different in size and power
but i still think cos i have the bx 8 and a friend got the truths that the bx 8 has much more bass and deffinition and quality then behringer my ears sais so and my friend thinks the same
i dont understand how behringer made a so strong (150 low - 75 hi)minitor in such a low price and it can be much of a quality but could be my ears dont feell like they are though

i trus the bx and i think its the best cheap monitor
they dont offer good stereo image and they are a bit tight cos of the plastic rubbery low unit but you will not find better in this price range

but always is a matter of taste always listen before purchase

I think monitor is a very difficult purchase, because listening to them in a shop, it is very difficult to hear which is good to use when producing. Only actually using them in your studio will tell you that.

I bet that if you go in to a hi-fi shop and listen to the speakers there in the same price range they will sound 'better' than most studio monitors.
Studio montiors should reveal flaws, not smooth them out. Looking at specs I would say is completly useless as well.

Some people love speakers like the NS-10 with their very harsh treble, some like smooth genelecs or tannoys. It's a matter of preference and taste.

So I would say go on reccomendations from people you trust and think make good productions. Don't buy a speaker because it sound better in the shop or because it has 10hz lower bass response.

I personally have an aversion towards behringer, and haven't even listened to their speakers, but have used M-audios, and think they are very good value. A bit sharp in the treble for my taste, but that you learn to compensate for.

It's all a metter of your studio room size,
you need a smaller size of the woofer if
you room is small.

I have met people with small studios and the
behringer monitors and the monitors lied to
him.

Peace..

The proper answer was given, but you aren't listening - every person has his own taste in monitors, and works differently with certain setups. If you want something that's considered 'ultimate' in quality, then the bx-5s are too small to offer all the range of bass frequencies (even the Dynaudio speakers at this size cut off a part of your bass, and Dynaudio make top of the line stuff) - but offer a very decent midrange and don't color the treble too much and are suited for working in smaller rooms, while the Truths just end up giving you a colored sound (much more than m-audio products - their sound is as accurate), but offer the ability to work in very high volumes (which is good for hearing details) and with a decent bass (better than the bx-5, similar to the bx-8) for a very cheap price. Both of these are considered rather low-end nowadays.

There is no absolute truth here. You could have decided to read one of the MANY threads about monitors here and tried learning for yourself instead of expecting others to think for you, and then bitching about it when they don't.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222
