Hey guys,
What size monitors would you put in a small studio ? (appx 12x9 ft)
I have some rather fat Spendor SA200's but i'm beginning to think they're a bit big for my studio ( i never thought i'd see the day when i thought that)
Any feedback will be muchos appreciated.

no rule of thumb about the size of the room -
it depends more on how far you are going to sit away from them.
With 5" LF you should sit close, with 6" LF you can also sit close - same with the 8" though you can also stretch out farther and push them harder a bit.
Your Spendors have a 6.3" mid/bass drive unit, so I certainly do not think they are too big for your studio.
That's a home studio setup for ya.

@ dtd
That link is gold!!
I've got a question though, looking at the picture of a studio you see the monitors placed against a wall..I've got a small room with a wall with wooden panelling on one end & a window on the other..
So my question is, it better to place the monitors against the wall or the window? http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic |
