Looking for a 16+ channel mixer, prefer analogue. Have $6000USD to spend.

What would you recommend? Mostly for synths (keyboards & eurorack & drum machines).           Cuntus Maximus.

in this price range I'd go for a digital. Yamaha 02r96 has a lot to offer for a reasonable price and is much fun, has all what you need, even lots and lots of useful efx, oscilator and lots of ins and lots of functions, pairing, direct outs, groups, shortcuts etc Had to learn this one in and out once. There is also an even nicer Tascam that has surround automations options with joystick etc just a bit more expensive than the 02r96 .

For analog better to save for a used SSL like AWS series like 900 or 924 if it does make sense to save tht amount of money. AWS SSL 924 I'd recommend its a paradise for each audio engineer, nice graphics even on the monitor included ^^. It's a hybrid of analog and digital you can change the mode anytime. All with ssl comp bus and on each channel dynamics section (gate, comp, full parametric eq with low cut and shelfs)with full analog ssl sound. Also total recall etc but sadly costs lots of more, but maybe used it's an option for you to save some money a longer while if analog is the only option you really desire. Alien and Heath I heard also good things from FOH engees dunno if it's a real advantage in the studio dunno this brand could be great never had my fingers on it.

for that price you have large choice and will depend totally about the sound you are after. do some research only way to pick a few models and then find the one the most suited for you.

but personnaly i wouldnt go digital that for sure, not that is bad, but with a good analog console you should get good eqs as well, and good saturator/color depending the choice u make.

Cheers all. Nah don't like Mackie or A&H. Have had both before & find them uninspiring to say the least. Nor do I want digital, again uninspiring for me & the sound is just well meh to me.

I am considering waiting until I sell an apartment I own in the new year. Then I can go even higher. I have played with API's The Box which is amazing but best price is $20K which is hard to convince the wife lol. Maybe I can convince her that $10-12 is reasonable.           Cuntus Maximus.

Can't seem to find Oram gear here in Australia, emailed them to see if they can hook me up with a supplier to go test them out.

This weekend I'm going to a studio where they have a Toft 32 channel & the Speck LiLo 16 Channel mixers for me to try out some gear on. Will take my MS-20 mini & a mate is lending me his Make Noise shared system to try out as I've ordered a shared system from Make noise myself.

I've got a whole basement to fill up so space isn't a huge issues. Just if I"m gonna spend more than say $3K it beter be a good purchase lol

There's also a studio that has a Never console that goes for about $167K but it's right up the north of Australia. Might be worth taking a family trip at some point to see how a mix comes out on such a pricey piece of gear!!

the oram T sound better than the toft imo, toft sound ok , both decendent of trident .

would need retest but toft didnt impress as much back at that time

if you go used amek have some good sounding one with colored sound that ooze analog but you might need to spend cash to maintain in working condition and not sure it would be to your taste..sound is so personal and there is plenty more consoles to check used.

API is unbelievable, though you can get their sound of a lunchbox which is cheaper and modular too...           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

cost a arm and a legg , but agree api sound is perfect for today electronic music ,still miss their channel strip, punchy sound, slight color and detailed sound ! but lot of cash ! and api is not know to be very reliable but sound is nice

for api sound check capi stuff in 500 format, cost way less and it s aimed for oldschool api sound, transients will probably more round but for some sound or get ride of digital caractere it can be just the ticked
