Struggling to make this

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can shed some light on how to make this bassline that comes in @ 00:53 as i have tried and tried and have come pretty close to it in some regard but still unable to get the character of this bassline.

Im trying to create it on a virus ti and so far i have these following settings which sort of come close somewhat:

2 osc set to square waves with balance 90% to left
osc sync
touch of ring modulation
80% envelope amount with 32 keyfollow, 34 attack 68 decay and 18% sustain and full release.
cutoff at 16 with analog lp 3 filtering going through serial 4(2 pole then saturation)
lfo 99-100 speed with triangle wave with conout set all the way to the left and mono switch on the lfo modulating filter cutoff 65% and trigger phase of the osc is at 19.

The FX section has analog boost all the way up with tuning on 63 and i have eq'd and sidechained to the kick - i know this is sampled and it seems like 3 patches layered together (inistal attack portion of the bass note, actual bass patch and wobble bass) but could someone break it down a bit and explain what's going on there?

Appreciate any advice, cheers!

Hey mate thanks for the quick reply!

I have tried pitch mod at the initial attack phase and even after the sustained notes and it sound way off, i can't get it right.

Personally i think this bass is nuts!
but also to get a different perspective of different types of bass aswell..something different.

And by all means this is something quite different.

the pitch mod is not just in the attack. try something like linking the pitch mod's lfo speed to velocity and amount to note-tracking (or the other way around), and be very very very subtle.

if you ask this same question on some dubstep forum they will answer you spot on in no time, this is basically the dubstep wobble applied to psytrance bassline, same methods.

or look on the net for some dubstep virus ti patches, i am sure there are to download, and see how they built the patch. but i think if you link the lfo parameters to velocity/note, you will get there.

Wow this is sounding closer to what i want, you are right though very very subtle parameters are the key, i have linked the pitch amount to lfo to on velocity and played around with the keyfollow to lfo amount settings, of course i need to play with it more but will probably sound closer if i made a psy bass patch like you suggested.

ill keep hammering this till i get it, thanks for your help i appreciate it!

set osc 1 to sine
osc 2 to square ( pitch osc 2 down an octave)
set osc balance to full right
set ring mod too full

will give you the chunky bassend you need

Yeah sorry i forgot to add to my original post that i already had glide on quarter way with the mono 1 setting on the virus and before the end or at the start of each note i added a note higher to give it that groove.

Hey woodster77 thanks for the advice i will try it later tonight when i get home.

Cheers!
