Hi,
I would appreciate if any one who knows Logic(pc) could explain how to stretch an audio file, for example a reverse cymbol crash, to make it longer whilst also keeping tempo and pitch the same.
I think its done in time and pitch machine but I've tried it a few times without any results. Which are the best parameters to change in there to keep pitch ok and make the wav longer?
thanks |

i use logic, but do that u said in fruti,
hehe actually I just have fruti installed exactly for when i need to do that...
i know u can do it in logic, but its more complicated and time consuming i think...

You use Time and Pitch machine.
set the original tempo, and the tempo you want to be at. (if you don't know the tempo of the wav, u can find it in other way)
Set Harmonic Correction to On. that will preserve the pitch.

thanks Trip,
unfortunately I know that already. think I read it in the manual or something...what I am after is after doing what trip says how can u then stretch the wav for example changing the length of the wav from 1/2 a bar to a full bar without changing pitch( harmonic correction on)
thanks

that's what I said...
if u want to make it longer by 2, just set new bpm x2 of the original.
and pitch will not be changed if u turn on harmonic correction.

Hey Trip,
How can you find the original tempo of the sample?

u don't have fruti?
in fruti u can put the file in a channel, and just choose how log u want the file to be, export in wav, and done, u got the file the size u wanted

I´m pretty sure Logic has "set to locator range" feature. Am I right???

if your wav is a loop, then prolly its length is exactly one or 2 bars - so you can set logic tempo to match a selected wav and how many bars it is. You will see the tempo change - remember it - and undo back to the original tempo before.
The option called: Adjust Tempo using object length and locators. keyboard 'T' if you didn't change it.
