I'd use granular synthesis for lengthening the decaying part. You can do it with Absynth, Reaktor or some other modular/synth that supports it. I don't know how the time-stretch algorithms work in cubase, but if you use them, you might want to stretch just the sustain/decay part and leave the initial hit as it is (few ms), because time-stretch can affect/ruin the transients of the hit.
Stretching percussive samples is different from stretching "real" instruments such as synths, vocals etc (that's why there is different presets for each kind of instrument in the time-stretch tool of sound forge for example). It's also different thing to stretch single hit sample versus long and complex riffs... |
