A great big round of thanks to Lawrence, Greg, Arwin, Katie, RJ, Brien, and the entire Straylight family for a very wonderful tribute party to Ian Dice!
I am extremely happy to have made the ceremony for Ian on time. That was truly my only mission for this weekend. I had been stressing this past week about being able to make it as I had missed the memorial with his family. Thanks to Larry and Mykell for tagging along and keeping to my strict traveling schedule.
The absolute highlight of the entire party for me was the scattering of Ian's ashes. I had never experienced a sunset on top of what Ian called "Sunset Hill" and I have to say that it was a very spiritual experience. Lawrence, thanks for your words about Ian, they were on point and I know Ian would have given you the thumbs up.
Decorations were superb as usual. Seeing Greg and Lawrence get the tapestry up the main tree reminds me of a bunch of past Straylight parties and how funny it is to watch the Monterey crew work their magic. They always get the job done, in a comedic fashion. Props to Chris and friends for the great geometrical string-art design. Looked great with the UV light at night.
Music from sunset to sunrise was amazing with standout sets from Arwin, Torin, Arahat, and Meta! I'm sure the music was great even after but I had to leave early. I placed an auction bid for tickets to Once Upon a Matress as part of a fundraiser for Ethan and Evan's elementary school. Unfortunately, I was told I won the auction on Friday and that the only remaining performances were on the weekend with Sunday's show beginning in the early afternoon.
Also, applause to every single person that came to celebrate the life of Ian. I met a bunch of super nice people from everywhere, Redding, San Diego, Colorado, and of course the Monterey natives! You were all extremely friendly and sharing and created one of the most memorable vibes I have ever felt at a Straylight party.
This was definitely a five star party. The only thing missing was Ian's physical presence - I miss you Ian!

this was a very special event for me. My first time to this location and to a straylight party and I have to say it was definitely one of the most memorable parties Ive ever been to. The location was absolutely stunning, in fact I dont think I have ever been to a party in a more beautiful location, thru the Redwoods and up up up above the clouds. What a vibe too at the party. everyone was super friendly, generous, and had a big smile on their face. It was like an intimate gathering of friends and family. The music was top notch, lots of variety. I especially enjoyed the Arabali set at night and the morning music with Random, Meta and Paradigms sets. The combination of the location, vibe and music was so powerful and energizing that I didnt even feel like sleeping the whole weekend. Oh and I def cant forget the sight and feeling of being on the dancefloor while a cloud passes thru it! amazing. I am so glad I was able to make it for this event, one of the best weekends EVER and I really feel privileged for just being present at this party. I hope you guys keep this tradition alive and I will def. try to make it everytime from onwards. A big big thanks to Mubali, Paradigm and the rest of the Straylight crew for the superb organization, you guys really know how to throw a party. bOM!

This was my first Straylight party and I have to say I am addicted!
I got there pretty late due to a long 7.5hr drive so I missed the whole ceremony and the sunset.
Upon arrival I was in disbelief that I was actually above the clouds. The place was sooo beautiful that it took me most of the night to start believing what I was seeing. The moon was so bright giving the place such a beautiful glow. Stars were also very bright and in your face. Looking up it almost felt like you were a part of the cluster and were moving to the same beat. Anywhere I looked I was amazed at the beauty of the place.
The party itself was spectacular. When I first walked up to the hill I was astonished at the decoration that I saw. Hats off to whoever set this up. It looked like it really took a lot of effort.
I got there just before Arabali live set and they really knocked my socks off. That was musically the highlight of the night for me. Everyone else also
played great music and to my surprise I didn't hear any cheese.
What really set this party of to another level for me was the people that brought all the food and drinks to the dance floor and set up a table and were
feeding everyone that was hungry. All the fruit, chai, salads etc. They were really cooking up a storm and were doing all this with the biggest smiles.
Truly amazing! Thank you sooo much for this. It really put this party way up there on the next level.
The sunrise was out of this world! Everywhere you looked it almost felt like you were dreaming. I saw colors that I never saw before.
The sea of clouds moving underneath you felt as if you were a bird flying and having the time of your life.
Every once in a while the sea of clouds would rise up and just swallow the dance floor. This was magical! At this point I had to pinch my self to see if I was really awake. Dancing in the clouds and seeing the water flying around you was really something else. I know this was Ian's favorite place and I see why.
Thank you all that were part of this wonderful gathering and I hope you keep this tradition alive. This event is something really special.
Thank you for making this happen and also thank you for showing me my favorite new spot. |

thank you everybody so much. This was a truly wonderful time, and i really feel deep in my heart that Ian would be proud. I do feel that his spirit is now resting here, and that this very special place will always be protected.
We've been doing shows here for 9 years, but this one really had a very special unique vibe different than any we have had before.
A big thanks to everyone who came, and added to the vibe.
Special thank you's go to Kevin "Longhair" for letting us use his shade structure for the DJ booth, to Psylotus for the outstanding deco, Arwin for being the sound guy who is always down for our cause, to all those who played and shared their music with us (which was just retarded good all party long) Conor and Liz for the Chai and fruit, and of course the Straylight crew and Monterey posse, who have been doing this with us all along.
This was truly a magical weekend.
On a negative note however... Someone over the weekend, decided to tag a forest service sign, and also steal from the tent of a crew member.
If anyone on this list knows who the guilty party may be, please give them what for.
I wont harp on it, for the good of this weekend out weighs this a 100 fold.
again thanks to everyone, and well see you next year

This event was amazing beyond words. The music was spectacular across every genre that was represented, the vibes of all the people in attendance were great, and the site is probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my life (and that's not even a slight exaggeration).
I arrived in the dark, and when the sun rose and I saw the view out over the clouds, it was one of those life changing moments you never forget.
Huge thanks to Paradigm for inviting me out for this one, and to everyone involved in making this incredible event happen.
