Hi! Hope someone can help...

When my Juli@ drivers are just installed everything works perfect,. Then when i have used FL and turn it off, no sound from other apps like VLC, Media player e.t.c is working at all. Nothing from movies or mp3. In FL everything is still working like it should. Then i have to reinstall the Juli@ soundcard drivers to be able to listen to mp3 and hear movies...

Anyone have any ideas?

It might be that you have a different driver selected in FL8 than in all the other applications. try to select a different driver in FL8 and see if the problem persists. It also might be an application on your computer that interferes with your driver. Happened to me...
If it is indeed the driver I would roll back to an older driver version, one that has worked before...
Would help to know what your soundcard is etc.           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Tanx for your suggestions!
Upavas. I have a Esi Juli@ soundcard. I´ve no older driver that worked. This is their first one for Vista. Before it was only beta and buggy as hell so i used asio4all., And if i use another one in FL, same prolem still. Cant get no sound outside Fl once its used after reinstalling drivers. Also disabled motherboards audio in Bios before...

Upavas, what type of application could it be interfering?

first of all: Vista Sux. no doubt.

I had also alot of problems with my firewire sound card with most audio programs when used vista. so i got back to xp. best op system ever.

anyway, try to install FL 7. and see if you still has the same problem. some FL versions have issues.

if you still have same problem, then post here your PC/Laptop info:

chipset, motherboard, etc... (coz there are some motherboards that have new updates for vista and those affect audio bus).

And make sure your ram is not faster than 800 when you switch back to XP as that os cannot see ram that is faster!!!

Martinlivet,
anything from Microsoft that uses audio may interfere, like for instance a camera or windows media player.
If Asio4all works, why don't you use that one?

Although after reading your last post it does sound like the soundcard manufacturers came up with a crappy driver. In this case I probably would go back to XP.

Did you try Piko Blanco's suggestion yet? I thought that was a good one!!! That would actually be the first thing I would try!           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Upavas. Yes, as i wrote, i have scince long disabled the motherboard sound in bios. Maby it is a crappy driver, but my friend has same setup and no problem. But we dont have same motherboard tough... As for psycho-italiano´s question, i have a Dell Dimension e 521 and mainboard model OUW467 if than means anything,...

I had some similar problems with the asio4all driver as well,. but then there was sound in VLC or Media player, but it was often glitchy and crackly. But the Juli@ driver is much better in FL so i prefer it there if possible..

And please, i´m very thankfull for everyones help, but please stop this answering everything with Vista sux... Like no one ever had any problems with XP? And changing isn´t an option right now scince i just have to much installed on my daw and no time to start all over again. Need the little time i have over to make music

But very nice of you trying to help, big thanx!!

Right click on my computer, go to manage, in the window that opens go to device manager and find the entry for your soundcard. Click on it and check if it is enabled. if your onboard soundcard is enabled disable it and enable your external one. Also you can see there what driver is being used... If there is a yellow exclamation mark then you need to enable it...
Other than that I cannot think of anything else right now.

As to the ram a friend of mine had a problem installing xp pro and was told by support that xp does not see anything faster than 800 as far as ram is concerned. Having that said I want to add that it was Microsoft support and hell, what do they know...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

But, anyway, if you will not resolve it, then you can stay with your Vista system. And use XP inside a virtual machine = Vmware (last solution) then you enjoy both systems. I know its ugly process to install all these programs!
every time I have this nightmare of installing new system, I need 1 week at least to finish all installations, but it worth it.

There is something right about XP and memory that you said, but its not the 800 issue.
XP doesn’t support 4gb ram memory. It simply doesn’t read it. Its designed for 2 gb Maximum. My friend got his Laptop yesterday, with 4 gb and xp system. Its shows 3 and actually is not using even 3. only 2.

Only XP 64 bit support 4 gb of ram.

You can read also about it a lot: http://www.google.co.il/search?hl=iw&q=does+xp+support+4+gb+ram&meta=
or

Thanx for replys everyone...

First, Upavas, i know about device manager. There is no other audio device there besides Juli@ audio, Juli@ controler, (and also Edirol driver for midi keyboard.) No yellow exclamation marks.. When i look in audio devices in controll panel like Medea suggested there is also only Juli@.

But strange thing is that all audio apps like FL, Acid or Melodyne is working perfect,.. but no media player,.. probebly there is the answer to this. There is no place in these programs to choose driver. Also no sound from windows on startup or other events when there "should" be.

Even when testing windows sound in audiodevice in control panel there is only small click in the monitor...

As for xp on Vm,.. i have vista home basic and as far as i know it is probebly the only useful thing for audio it doesnt support compared to the other editions
Also want to stay on Vista for to use 4 gig ram,...
