Did you install something new recently? Are you using a VST on those channels that you usually don't use?
Try a system restore.

i used to get that but then i updated to the most recent one 7.16 i believe and it stopped so just go the top and click on check for updates download it and erase everything that existed there before that has to do with ableton. reinstall as if its a brand new computer. (off coarse, u dont have to delete ur sample library, just point to it in preferences after its done installing!

Are you duplicating while audio is running? You are suppose to be able too, yet I had this same issue if I had too many tracks running....

I should add that this occured with live 7.04-ish, I have 8 now and haven't noticed the same issue, so perhaps it was a bug that ableton has fixed...

I found this on the ableton forum..bug fix from .03 to7.05...
"Duplicate an audio track containing a clip with certain envelopes could lead crash Live."
