There's a huge difference between making a tune and putting it out as a white label or releasing it out on a compilation. White labels are being released for years now and nobody really earns from it as long as it wasn't licensed after it becomes a hit.
A remix to Lisa Stansfield's People On Hold was released on a white label and it was a huge hit. Later it was officially licensed and it became a legit remix which had a big success as well.

Actually bootlegs are the fastest and easiest way for the artist and the people that release white labels to make a fast and easy buck. Given that the tune of choice has been a huge hit, bootlegs sell like candy and are a great DJ tool as well. Hence a lot of DJs/producers that make a quick bootleg, yet, never release it. They simply have it to drop it in their sets and get more bookings later. If the bootleg becomes a big hit, the major is going to track the people that did it down, twist their arm and give it an official release. Having listened to samples of the tunes in question, I highly doubt this will be the case with this compilation though
What is happening in the trance scene is an indication of how far up their own a$$e$ some people are.

2Templar^: as always you got the very right point. thanx.

2Acidhive: dont be such angry man phonokol have many great artists and releases. it is not needed to spread their mistakes too wide. its not their best move but we know it is usual for big commercial labels. and i like hypersonic .           Spiritual guides are to practice and serve in ways that cultivate awareness, empathy, and wisdom.

Correction. Phonokol had many great artists. (Ok, E-jekt released a wicked album there some months ago, but that's all).

What's next? Donna Summer?

Actually the Pl*mp DJs did a wicked bootleg of "I Feel Love" a few years back, that went out under the name Donna Kebab. If the diva's voice floats your boat, that 12" carries more psychoactive juices than all of the trance tunes I heard last year, put together.

Plump Djs are break beat artists. Not psy. Although in my ears they are more psychedelic than any artist on the last Phonokol compilation. Besides E-Jekt that is.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me
